"I'm so happy that this isn't just another run-of-the-mill, permit-seeking waste of time. They are taking lessons from history."
Translation: Silly little things like laws and basic standards of human decency are only for everyone else. They don't apply to us, because we're so much more enlightened than the common idiot Americans.
Skul makes a good point as well; They're not achieving any of their demands, or winning over supporters to their side, by doing this; They're inconveniencing, and generally pissing off, decent and hardworking Americans.
"I have studied protests for the last fifty years -- the ones that ended in state violence (they always win) are short and they MARCH. the ones that brought down regimes are LONG and STOP TRAFFIC and involve SITTING DOWN OR STANDING STILL WITH LINKED ARMS."
If this idiot had studied protests as much as he claimed, he'd know that, for instance, the civil rights protests which were most effective and most memorable (i.e. Birmingham) were the ones that were marches. He'd also know that the protests which had teh most positive impact were the ones which involved regular citizens, not a bunch of smelly, pretentious hippies like the ones that are literally and figuratively making a stink in NY at this moment.
