Psssssssst! Occupy Colleges plans national walk-out Wednesday

Edited on Tue Oct-04-11 05:12 PM by malaise

Coming to a college near you - Occupy!

http://www.dailycal.org/2011/10/03/occupy-colleges-plan... /

<snip>
Occupy Colleges — a movement that stemmed from Occupy Wall Street — is calling for a national campus walkout Wednesday at 12 p.m. to protest rising college debt and a lack of jobs for graduates.

“Do not go to school. Go fight for yours and everybody elses rights at Occupy Wall Street, Occupy Los Angeles or your nearest Occupation. The time is now to join our fellow %99!” stated Occupy College on its Facebook page.

Occupy Berkeley is one of the many groups joining the Occupy Wall Street network. According to the website of Occupy Together — an unofficial hub for all of the events springing up across the country in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street — there are more than 130 cities forming protests in the United States alone.

I'm going to take a ride to the college here tomorrow and take pictures of the revolution.   :rotf:

Demand jobs?  Let me guess, they want, nay expect, the government to give them jobs.  They could go into business for themselves, but that would mean actual work.

What is their beef with colleges anyway?
Colleges are run by people who are moonbats just like they are.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

The bottom line is this.

They ALL want to protest Obama and his policies, but since they can't - since he is a Democrat, and a black one at that, they are protesting institutions that leverage the policies he supports. The only ones voicing what they all think are the LaRouche people - who are just as annoying as followers of Phelps and the Westboro Baptists.

All of the 'Too big to fail' Wall Street banks and businesses have Obama's people inside making policy and determining course of action.

Obama & Co. have made it much, much harder to skip paying back student loans, and support policies that have resulted in tuition costs skyrocketing.

I suppose next will be 'Occupy [insert utility company here] ' protests, once Obama's policies take hold and push up the cost of energy.

Probably because they don't pay electric bills.

So, just out of curiosity DUmbasses, if education is going to be free, who's going to pay the professors, the light bills, the maintenance fees, the administration fees, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc.?

The above  is just more proof that liberalism is a mental disease. The question is does one have to mentally ill to hold opposing views or does holding opposing views make you mentally unstable?  Chicken, egg thing.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Sure , let all those idiots skip out of class for a few days or weeks. The only thing to suffer, is possibly their grades, the schools will still get their money.

It's not like these idiots will be any LESS employable than they already are anyway...

They are demanding guaranteed jobs after graduation, then maybe should major in something the market wants, not what makes them feel good about themselves.

It makes little difference if these DUmbasses flunk out, or graduate in their worthless lib arts subjects (like Li'l Ava's YouTube degree program).

They'll still be losers throughout their lives, just scraping by, with their student loans following them to the grave.

Sorry DUmmies Tea Party beat you to the punch. We've got the momentum. You guys (the uber-environmentalists) leave trash everywhere. You look nasty and disheveled. You had your chance 40 years ago. Now you just look like whiners. "Daddy government has to come rescue me from the big bad world because I'm not capable of managing my own life and too lazy to make it with my own sweat!"

This will fail. Just like everything else you do. That's what happens when you try to relive the past instead of looking to the future.

Shadeaux, I'm reading the comments at the OP's link (The Daily Californian) now.  There's one blowhard windbag who is defending the class abandonment strategy:  He says

Quote
(3) Rallies and events held on the day of the walkout (some simply spontaneous discussions), will further consensus among the students as to some particulars about focus.

(4)  If it is successful, then it will lead to further action.

which just made me laugh.  1)  Steal underpants.  2) ???   3)  Profit!

And that use of "consensus", as (I guess) a verb, just makes me want to smack someone.   :hammer:  The author of that drivel makes sure to point out he has a PhD and is a California academic.   ::)

Heard on the radio today, that we have an Occupy Dallas.  The plan is to gather at the JFK Memorial, walk down to the Fed, and sit there until they get arrested.  Estimated headcount is 200-1000 people.  Dallas PD states they have no special plan for them.
