Meet the real Herman CainBrand-new memoir sheds light on fast-rising presidential candidatePosted: October 03, 20115:31 pm Eastern© 2011 WNDHerman Cain is breaking all the rules. Never elected to public office and without a major money machine behind him, the black conservative businessman is astonishing friend and foe alike as he emerges as a major player in what many consider to be the most important presidential election in modern American history.Disarmingly straight-talking and likeable, Cain is rising rapidly in popularity, not only among his early supporters in the tea party, but across the board. But who is Herman Cain?(snip)Although he is host of a popular conservative Atlanta-area radio talk show called The Herman Cain Show, Cain is perhaps best known as the CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, who transformed a company teetering on the verge of bankruptcy into a household word. And as some will remember, Cain is also famous for using the language and logic of everyday business to expose the fallacies inherent in Clinton assumptions about "Hillarycare" during a 1994 televised town hall meeting.Without a doubt, Cain’s current rise is the embodiment of the American Dream. His parents, Luther and Lenora Cain, made a living the only way most black people could in the '40s and '50s. Luther held down three jobs, including working as a chauffeur; Lenora cleaned houses. They had two big dreams: to buy a house and to see their sons graduate from college. With dedication and hard work, they made both dreams come true. And as Cain writes in "This is Herman Cain": What is it in my DNA that years ago prompted me to forgo the ease of cruise control and take on the enormous challenge of doing my part toward making America a better place for my granddaughter and the generations to come? Why do I, a son of the segregated South, refuse to think of myself as a "victim" of racism? What is it that motivates me to insist on defining my identity in terms of "ABC" – as being American first, black second, and conservative third? Just who is Herman Cain? And how did I get this way? Just a hint: it may have had something to do with lessons learned from my parents, Lenora and Luther Cain, Jr.
I think the thing that scares the crap out of the leftists about Herman Cain is the fact that he is an American and not a hyphenated American.
Cain is one that I could vote for without having to hold my nose to do so.
Also important--I think I heard Dick Morris say this on Hannity--is that Cain is the second choice for both Perry and Romney supporters. Basically it's "if my guy doesn't win, I'll take Cain." That's a great spot to be as well. Cain may very well be our nominee. Let's hope.
Perry and Romney have big negatives as far as the TEA Party is concerned. I haven't seen any worries about Cain in that respect. AFAIK, his main problem is still name recognition, and fighting against the DC establishment.
There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site
