What's this guy talking about, the South becoming "uninhabitable"?
I mean, isn't that already the case in large patches of the South, where elitist northeastern liberals have migrated down there, polluting it and rendering it unsuitable for the mellow, laid back, comfortable life it used to present?
Oh Frank, we cannot change the rotation of the earth, we cannot change earthquakes, tornado's,Volcano's erupting, hurricanes or other Earth system disasters, about all we mortals can do is to ADAPT to things out of our control.
Did Humans cause the depressions dust bowl, the Potato Famine, the Gay Seagulls in San Francisco 10 years ago??? We did not cause the ice ages, Salt Lake in UTAH, or the Dead Sea.
We can manage the earth as it changes but regardless what we do we are not GOD and force the Earth into submission to our needs.
We must work with the tools we have, Israel managed to turn the sand into gardens by planting millions of trees, but outside that area the land is baked clay and awesome stretches with no inhibition what so ever.
There use to be huge cities that had to be fed and watered for humans to survive. We keep finding huge city's out in nowhere that a one time the climate had to have been much different then today.
China has areas that at one time had herbivores running about that is now nothing but sand and rocks.
The most successful Adaption I have heard of is the ESCOMOS that adapted to the worse climate on Earth.
Instead of trying to place the blame on civilization, we must adapt to the problems that climate causes. We must work with the Earth, this is our home, it is up to us to adapt to natural changes.
In other words we need more damage control, more what to do IF. The dried up lake beds in Texas bother me, the strange outbreaks of disease with our food that so far no one knows why or how come.
I was impressed that a computer game solved a long time problem with in the medical comunity that no computer could solve. It was the brains of the players using technology that opened a door that may solve quite a few medical mysteries.
Working with science and the tools to do so is our best bet, will not surprise me if some 9 year old gamer solves a huge mystery when presented as a game.
The key to human survival is within the new generations the youth, not by ageing industrialists or old time scientists that were taught with a slide rule and set in their ways.
As we keep aborting humans , we are throwing away the lives and brains of the very people that could be our future of life on plant Earth.
