Abolish the EPA
Abolish the IRS
Abolish the Federal Reserve

That should do it!
"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

Department of Education could very easily go down the shitter with the corresponding backbelch, but I'd roll the plumbing snake out and make sure all those turds went away.

DOD is also a real piece of work, but even Rumsfeld couldn't quite figure out how to effectively deal with that bureaucracy.

I'd take a long, hard look at all those "czars" and start getting those guys and gals ready for the unemployment line.

Apart from all that, I'd be holding a press conference EVERY FRIGGIN' WEEK on the tax code, just to keep the American people informed on how bloated and out of control it is. I'd be pointing fingers toward the lobbyists and specifying how they, moreso than the ******* congresscritters, write legislation that lines their pockets.

I'd go on a whistleblowing hunt the likes of which hadn't been seen since Proxmire's "Golden Fleece" awards and I'd be relentless about it, hammering everywhere and anywhere.

Of course, I'd do all that knowing I'd be a one-termer because all of that anti-D.C. shit would piss off the Beltway Crowd faster than shutting down the gubmint.

Income tax by quintile:

1st - 3%
2nd - 7%
3rd - 12%
4th - 18%
5th - 25%

No deductions. No credits. Those distort the market.

Regulations:

Cut and gut. No more voodoo science. Evidentiary standards will be as, if not more, restrictive than criminal trials.

Balanced Budget Amendment

No more automatic increases for inflation. Each new budget starts from 0 and is based on the previous year's revenue. Budget MUST pay interest and principle of the national debt. Earmarked projects must be individually funded by specifically issued bonds, not borrowing. Only national emergencies/wars can be put on the national tab. Anything not in Art 1 Sec 8 must be re-authorized each year by 2/3 vote.

1- I would give all illegal aliens 90 days to sell out, settle their affairs and leave the country. If they were caught after date 1 year on a prison farm and deportation. If they reentered the country illegally and were caught, 5 years on a prison farm.

This would keep billions of dollars in the USA and open up jobs for those displaced in my next step.

2- I would order a reevaluation of every welfare, foodstamp, housing and disability recipient to be concluded in no less than 2 years. All those that remanded on any type government welfare would be reevaluated every 2 years. There would be random drug testing with disqualification if positive. Being a druggie or alcoholic would not qualify as a disability.

Those that won't work now would have to take those jobs that they don't have to do now. It would save billions on the national debt and add to a positive consumer cash flow economy.

...and on the foolish side. I would give $10,000 to every DUmmie that gave up his citizenship and left the USA. If you think about that a moment, you'll realize that would be quite a savings with the added benefit of giving others our headaches... Cuba is nice this time of year.... be as nice to Castro as he was to us.(Carter)

Tricky question, would or could?  Given the political realities and climate, I'd do the following:

--Immediate repeal of Obamacare.  That alone would be enough, IMO.
--Making Bush tax levels permanent (as well as death tax and capital gains) and indexed to inflation, or create a two-tier system which would eliminate the mortgage interest deduction as well as most others (especially EIC), but there would only be two tax brackets: 15 and 28 percent, with the crossover point being somewhere in the neighborhood of 125K for single/150K for married couples.  15 percent bracket starts with the first dollar.  No more of this 51 percent not paying shit.
--With the exception of DoD, 10 percent cut in absolute dollar spending in every other federal department for at least two years, and at the end of that period, a review to determine if it needs another 10 percent cut for an additional two years.  Some which would almost certainly get the full 40 percent treatment would be HHS, DOE (both of them), and EPA.

Repeal 0bamacare.

I would eliminate:

The IRS, (go to fair tax)
the Department of Energy,
the Department of Education,
Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs,
Bureau of Human Resources,
Housing and Urban Development (HUD),
Department of Health and Human Services,
Election Assistance Commission (EAC),
National Endowment for the Arts,
NPR, PBS, Planned Parenthood funding,
National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH),
Department of Agriculture,
Office of Government Ethics (OGE)

The list goes on and on ....

Get the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US.

But the top 3? Just 3??? Ok. Repeal 0dumbocare, eliminate the EPA and replace the IRS with the Fair Tax. That would make a HUGE difference all by itself.

Would anyone fix immigration?  make it easier/shorter to become a citizen legally?

What would you do with all the illegals currently here?

Would anyone fix immigration? It doesn't need fixing.  make it easier/shorter to become a citizen legally? No.

What would you do with all the illegals currently here? Round them up and deport them.

Oh come on.  It's unrealistic to even think there is nothing wrong with the immigration process.  I have friends from other countries (not Mexico) that have been trying for years to enter the US legally.  The process is extremely expensive and takes way too long for decent people to become a part of our country.

For what it's worth I think the Mexican Illegal problem is a problem all in itself.  These people need to be punished for their illegal deeds.   They certainly don't need to be afforded the same rights as our citizens.

The key word is illegal.  I can't stand an illegal.  I want me some people that mind the laws and respect the USA.

There are things wrong with every government process I can think of. But making it easier for immigrants to enter this country can only exacerbate the problems we already have. Many of our problems now come not only from Mexico but from almost any country in the world since the "hate the USA" attitude is taking over.

I most certainly agree with the rest of your statement!

Eh, I have to say that seeing someone be in the process for 8 years is disheartening and not what I think the American Dream should be about.  But I love you anyway.  :hammer:

It is certainly a problem. I don't claim to know all the whys and wherefores, but 8 years isn't all that uncommon, from what I understand.

Oh yeh.  I guess they would have to be here a certain time, like 10 yrs legally working.  Isn't that how you are able to get SS?  I can't remember.  You have to work a certain amount of time to draw right?

eta:  and explain how each thing would accomplish it  (I want to learn)

Trick question...Given the political reality, nothing would get through the senate.

If I had people to work with me in the senate, I'd:

1. Repeal 0bamacare: Nobody likes it at all, and it's a hindrance on business.

2. I think abolishing the EPA might be a stretch. But I would push to allow drilling in ANWR and off the coasts. Also, I'd make it easire for the tapping and collection of our vast resources of natural gas. I would work to loosen regulations to allow more refineries to be built, and for the existing ones to be more profitable to run. Those two things would probably cut gas prices in half due ot OPEC shitting themselves.

Would anyone fix immigration?  make it easier/shorter to become a citizen legally?

What would you do with all the illegals currently here?

It would be easy to say, "Round 'em all up, ship 'em all back," but most of this country has neither the political will nor the resources to do so.

The current illegal situation is the fault of both the feds AND states.  At a federal level, we're not securing our borders the way we should, and ICE policy of catch and release is, as we've seen, a complete joke.  Employers continue to employ illegals despite the laws against it because enforcement is also a joke.

At a state level, particularly in liberal states, policies such as not asking status for schools, in-state tuition for illegals, drivers licenses, welfare, etc., continue to drain state coffers.
,
If we were willing to prosecute employers who hire illegals, and I mean SERIOUS jail time and fines, the work for them would dry up.  Also, anyone who can't prove citizenship should not be allowed admittance to any higher educational institution, let alone get loans or in-state tuition.  The feds need to also prosecute those who commit identity fraud in employing illegals, and finally, the SCOTUS (or via Constitutional Amendment) needs to settle the flawed interpretation of the 14th Amendment and declare that "anchor babies" are in fact NOT citizens simply by virtue of where they were born.

But to answer the other part of the question, yes, the immigration process is too cumbersome, time consuming, and expensive, which is why most illegals do what they do.  In order to streamline the process, ICE needs to simplify the process of background checks, etc., which currently can take YEARS to accomplish.

But the question is what would I do as president. They need resources and the will to do it? I would make whatever damned resources that would be required to round them up, and I would see to it that only patriotic US citizens who had the will would be hired to do it.

How?

A start would be to completely replace ICE admins and supervisors. Then let the chips fall where they may. Then replace the fallen chips with good ones.

The replacement of the leaders would, of course, accompany the replacement of about all of the the current kings and queens of the departments that may survive my cutting knife.
