DNC Is Near Broke
« on: April 29, 2008, 12:18:48 PM »
Quote
On Meet the Press yesterday, Tim Russert questioned the accuracy of a new DNC ad about John McCain. Others have even accused Howard Dean of illegally making the ad in coordination with the Clinton and Obama campaigns. In any case, almost nobody will see this inaccurate, possibly illegal ad, because the DNC is near broke. With a measly $5.3 million cash on hand, the DNC trails the RNC by nearly $26 million.

For all the talk in the blogosphere about not everything being sunshine and daisies for John McCain, it is worth noting the RNC can make up a decent part of the fundraising gap. This election cycle, the RNC has raised $50 million more than the DNC, and that’s why the RNC was able to spend almost twice as much in March. Also, with the Democratic nomination looking more in doubt than ever, Clinton and Obama may be hemorrhaging cash as they attack each other all the way until the Democratic Convention.

With inevitable Messalina Agrippina and soon-to-fade Barry "Goldwater" Obama siphoning off all the Democrat cash--by the way, didn't it used to be something to be embarrassed about, among Democrats and liberals, raising ungodly amounts of money?--it's obvious neither Messalina Agrippina nor Barry "Goldwater" Obama have the best interests of the Democrat party at heart.

Only their own personal interests.

Perhaps the Democrat party should levy a "tax" on contributions to its political candidates, making Messalina Agrippina and Barry "Goldwater" Obama hand over to the national party 10% or something of what they raise.

It sounds utterly reasonable to me; after all, both Messalina Agrippina and Barry "Goldwater" Obama derive certain benefits from being identified with the Democrat party--mostly positive, if not idolatrous, coverage by the national news media--and so as they take, they should also give.

i'm just thrilled the Dems are throwing buckets of cash at Obama and Hilary.. when they both go down in flames, and it looks like they are racing to beat the other one down to the ground right now, the entire left will be so much lighter in their pocket books.

i'm starting to think the entire Dem campaign is a Rovian plot...  :-)

It doesn't have to be - Collectively they can't resist the candy-like appearance of the big red self-destruct button. All Lord Rove needs to do is sit back and watch the show, or maybe nudge them back into play if one of them seems ready to leave the ring.
