Sacramento's 1,000 highest-paid local government employees

This is, unfortunately, not limited to the region of Sacramento, CA, aka the Land of Fruits and Nuts.

The lowest paying job is that of a police lieutenant, who gets $143,866 per year. Could you live on that amount of money?

The 1,000 highest-paid local government workers in the Sacramento region collectively earned $171 million during 2009 -- equivalent to triple the annual general fund budget of Elk Grove. The median pay for these workers was $161,000. Median pay for all local government workers is far less -- about $62,000, according to a Bee review of data from the state controller's office.

Gee. Why don't people just get a government job?

Nothing new. In my town the water works employees make 2-3 X's what the average income is for the COUNTY.

Oh, and they raised the rates AGAIN.

Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”
