ABC News: Protesters Begin Effort to ‘Occupy Wall Street’

after which a news photograph of seven protesters; I counted them

ABC News’ Candace Smith reports:

Protesters are gathering on Wall Street today in a movement they call “Occupy Wall Street.”

As of noon, hundreds of protesters gathered at Bowling Green Park in Manhattan, home of the iconic charging bull in New York’s Financial District as they prepare to “take the bull by the horns,” as said on a flyer advertising the event.

“The one thing we all have in common is that We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%,” said a statement on the website Occupy Wall Street.

According to statements on the website, the movement, an offshoot of online magazine AdBusters, is angered by what it calls the principle of “profit over and above all else,” which it says has dominated not only America’s economic policies, but also the way in which Americans view culture and humanity.

3. Don't you just love the subtle way they lie with numbers?

This isn't the first time the news media have shown up two hours before a protest is scheduled to start and reported on how "hundreds" had gathered for it.

13. Uh, they said "as of noon." The protest was scheduled to start at 6 AM.

18. How badly does media NOT want to cover this?
Just switched over to CNN, they're re-playing the teaparty debate.

Media suckage daily reaches new lows.
News media doesn't report on non-news, unless they can fabricate it themselves.
In other words, DUmmies, your little "protest", failed ...miserably.
 :facepalm2:
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

Good luck with that. I'm pretty sure most exchanges operate now in such a way that if the physical locations of the buildings shut down, they can continue operations remotely. In fact, most corporations plan for such a thing in this day and age, but y'all have fun creating jobs for the street sweepers and janitorial staff of NY city. I'm sure they will appreciate the OT provided by what usually are the dirty scumbag protestors who leave their crap, sometimes quite literally, behind.

They should have hired illegal aliens undocumented protesters. That's what they're here for, to do the protesting Americans won't do.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Hundreds of protesters descend to 'Occupy Wall Street'

A marching band played as participants held impromptu yoga and tai chi classes in Bowling Green Park. Demonstrators moved their protest to another nearby park as their numbers swelled to around 500.

Yoga and Tai Chi! Ragey.

I don't know about that. It's pretty anemic.

Maybe it's the Day of Irritation.

No, in Egypt the protesters started with a barbeque er, self-emulsion. Here we get trust-fundies. And where are are the hawt protesting chicks. I haven't seen a one. In their short micro-mini skirts, cropped t-shirts and little red berets. Pumping their well manicured fists in the air.

I'd go to the protests if they could recruits some hawt chicks.
