Visited debk Last Night
« on: September 15, 2011, 06:48:25 AM »
I and an old Army musician buddy are traveling to the annual Association of Military Musicians reunion in Columbia, SC and thought it would be a fabulous idea to stop and visit debk and her family, have a truly stupendous meal, and otherwise meet face-to-face since we began this internet forum thing back in 2004? or 2005?

A bunch of us including debk sorta hobnobbed on the forums on military.com until the screaming liberals, heavy-handed modding, and really crappy software prompted a rather large exodus from the shithole over to the creation of usmilnet.com by Rebel, Thor, et. al.

usmilnet.com is largely a Coastie forum now, still in good hands, but I think it's fair to say that CC has become the preferred venue for those of us who made that exodus out of the aforementioned shithole.

All that said, it was GREAT to finally meet face-to-face and enjoy some of deb's famous cooking. She did up some pork loins with a peach bbq sauce and other fixin's that was deelish.

My musician buddy and I were so grateful we broke out the horns and played some Lennie Niehaus jazz duets.

What fun!

If there was a meetup in TN, I would go, and attach a visit to my sister to the trip.

It was wonderful to finally meet Euph in person, as like he said, we have "known" each other for years and talked on the phone several times. He and Kevin gave us an impromptu jazz concert that was not only great music, but the two of them could go on the road as a comedy team!

Euph is, in real life, not only the same in real life as he is here, but he's also a cutie! He has "twinkly" eyes. M and I do hope he comes back to visit and bring Mrs E with him next time! (Euph - you could have mentioned my pie  )

Chocolate is good for you, and therefore eliminates any negative caloric effect from the 2.5 sticks of butter, pint of whipping cream, granulated and powdered sugars.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!!

I was very good last night. I only used 1 1/4 pound of butter in dinner and dessert.  O-)

You have people living near you.  None of you will ever find time to meet up with me unless you stop in and rent a car and then head out for your Las Vegas festivities and shenanigans.

Awesome! Looks like a good time was had by all.

Deb looks mischevious. I love it! :-)

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Sounds awesome Euph. All kidding aside, I do wish I could meet some fellow "Cavers", my problem is I live in the "sticks" part of Cali.

Sounds like a great time.    :cheersmate:
