I think it's worth it to reflect and try to remember why and how it happened. In the runup to the election, what were people saying in conversations with you?
I think a part of it was Bush fatigue. I have a SIL who voted for Obama, and she announced it in the context of being sick of GWB (IIRC). I had other relatives who thought McCain was such a RINO, it didn't make any difference who he voted for. Several months later, they asked me "why do you think Obama's getting so unpopular?" I replied "Well, they've realized that there's a communist in the White House now." They said "What?" They didn't shout me down or anything, they looked troubled.
The people I'm the most angry with are the ones who willfully ignored such things as the Bill Ayers connection. The Marxist upbringing. All the red flags that the media usually looks into during the vetting process. I remember listening to Hannity on the radio, and a woman called in and said "Oh Sean, that unrepetent terrorist stuff isn't resonating with anyone here." I shouted at the radio "WHY THE HELL NOT???" Does Obama have to eat a live baby on live TV for anyone to question him?
