Grandparents' Day is a Hallmark-created holiday that has been around since the 70's or early 80's. (not really a Hallmark created one, just seems like it is)

It's the first Sunday after Labor Day, in the US, but it's different in different countries. Like Mother's Day and Father's Day, the date itself changes every year.
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

"My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far I've finished two bags of M&M's and a chocolate cake. I feel better already." – Dave Barry

A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands.

Sadly, yes.

Say what you want and it is kindda funny but I wish my son had had grandparents. I know what he has missed, he doesn't...but maybe he does.

No grandparents is one of the hazards of having kids late in life. Me and the wife both had already lost our parents when he was born. Even as a baby in arms, I would look at him and get a tear in my eye when I thought about how my mother and father would have spoiled their only male grandchild. Then when he was between 2 and 3 years old he would ask, out of the clear blue sky, any gray haired woman he saw "Are you my grandmuvver?" It would make me cry. To have grandparents must be ingrained in the brain when we are born.

I hope my son lives to a ripe old age and has many grandkids. But I can't help but wonder if he will know how to be a grandparent. Good grandparents are special.

Our son took his first steps when my dad was visiting us. My dad died, at our house, about 2 hours later.

Our son took his first steps when my dad was visiting us. My dad died, at our house, about 2 hours later.

That's sad. Now you'll have to do like I do and tell him about his granddaddy.

I point out things around here to my son that my daddy did. We ride down the road and I'll say, "See that pond? Your granddady built it back in 1954." Or I'll say, "See that house? Your granddaddy cleared off for it back in the 50's".

So Saturday we were hauling off some trash, mostly 40 years of tax and business records. As we were riding down the road I said to my son, "You see this road we're riding on?" He goes, "Yeah, I know. My granddaddy built it back in the 50's"...I laughed and then told him, "No, I did back in 1969."... :rotf:
