Hi, Cave people! This is my first post here. I registered for the Cave today, since I couldn't see the DUmpster without registering. Thought it was a change of policy; found out it's a temporary measure.

But as long as I'm registered now, I want to let you know that I appreciate the DUmpster.  I have often peered into the Cave to see what you guys are talking about and to scout out DUFUable threads. A number of times you have given me ideas for the DUFUs. Thanx!

The lineage, the shared history, of the DUmmie FUnnies and the Cave's DUmpster goes back quite a ways. September 22 will mark the 7th anniversary of the first edition of the DUmmie FUnnies (09-22-04) as a regular feature on Free Republic. PJ-Comix is the one who started it all. franksolich and I came along soon thereafter as "pingees." PJ, frank, and I all were heavily involved in 2005 in chronicling the Andy Stephenson Situation (Scamdy), which is when the DUFUs really took off. Some time later, frank started doing his own thing, ending up here in the Cave (while still contributing as a commenter on FR), and PJ added me on as a cohost of the DUFUs (both on FR and, by then, the DUmmie FUnnies blogspot). PJ doesn't DUFU as much as he used to; he's been doing more on NewsBusters, the Examiner, and the Coupon Whisperer. I try to do a couple DUFUs a week, but time doesn't always permit.

I see DUmmie FUnnies and the DUmpster as complementary, symbiotic even. The Cave tends to emphasize the various individual personalities of the primitives a little more. While we do that too on DUmmie FUnnies (e.g., Pied Piper Pitt, Know-it-all Nadin, Bobo the Hobo, Sarah Ibuprofen), PJ and I specialize more in the satirical one-liner comebacks to the DUmmie comments (with some parodies thrown in too). It's all good!

So, it's nice to finally greet the Cave. I know I see many of you also on the DUFUs (Ballygrl, in particular, is a good go-between between the two places). And I know I even see some of you, like me (although under my nom de DUmp), in DUmmieland itself, if you catch my drift. Hee! Hee!

Of course the most-excellent DUmmie FUnnies and the DUmpster complement each other, sir.

I view them both as being a public service, for the Good of Humanity.

You're right about the differing emphases; the DUmmie FUnnies concentrates on a single campfire from Skins's island, while the DUmpster tends to (please notice the "tends to") justifably parody individual primitives.

It all works out; it works out well.

We've linked to the DUmmie FUnnies here many times, and some "collections" are in the DUmping Ground forum (as compared with the DUmpster); sometimes from the blogspot, other times from freerepublic.

So feel free to join in the fun, sir!

Even though I didn't see Coach's comments before I tried to reply myself, I echo his sentiments.

It seems that we all have a symbiotic relationship--all three of the sites could (conceiveably) survive without the other two, but each improves the other two, so why bother screwing with a good thing?

You know, if you collected your song parodies, I'd be more than happy to put them in the DUmping Ground.

Sort of like miskie's "Big Book of Poetry," a parody of the CalPig primitive, and such a wonderful one.

The DUmpster's actually three sections, like with a library.

The DUmpster itself is the "general circulation" section.  The "DUmping Ground" is the "reference" section.  "Mind-Numbing Stupidity" is the miscellaneous stuff.

Oh, and I forgot to say, in all due respect for your calling, we allow language that's a tad bit rougher over here, than on freerepublic.  I hope you don't mind, but really, the primitives can make one cursedly angry.

And once in a while, there's a certain picture that shows up here, but never mind; it's up for only a minute or two, and then quickly taken down.  It's bait for the lurking primitives; decent and civilized people are supposed to pay it no attention.

Welcome Charles.  Well, this brings it full circle for me.  Shortly after my political reawakening, I found the DUFU.  I had no idea about DU's existence, so of course I had to check it out.  Shortly thereafter, I honed my skills at shouting expletives at my computer monitor.  I knew Ballygrl from another forum, and she directed me to the Cave.  So, life is complete, sans the fact that I still have not met Matthew McConaughey.
