The left of today like to call themselves "progressives" or "liberals", which is in many ways a misnomer. The left is usually the "revolutionary", while right is "reactionary". The left today is the "reactionary", while right is "revolutionary". Here is why I think that.
When I look up the definition of liberal, here it is.

How is the left progressive when they want to maintain the status quo?

The left seems to hate individual freedom.

The left does not tolerate dissent for the most part.

Obama is more a monarchy.

Everyone is bigoted to a certain degree and that has little to do with politics. The worst kind of people are the ones who say they are not prejudiced, but they are.

There are people on both sides who are closed minded, but the left seems more closed minded.

The left is less likely to donate to charity.

-Want to maintain the status quo.
-Want to continue spending and spend even more.
-They are resistant to change and even fear it.
Right
-Want to change the status quo.
-Want to cut spending and government programs.
-They want change.
