On the blackout and the nature of the grid

A single error dumped oh eight million people into the darkness. To me this raises the issue of DISTRIBUTIVE energy generation. In fact, we might have to consider expanding this in a serious manner. I expect the industry to fight it, but in reality I should expect both to be part of the normal mix.

Things like this...nobody got killed, people mostly helped each other...also expose the thin veneer of technologically based civilization.

Oh and things are not fully back to normal. I was lucky to get cold cuts and cheese...but milk, cheese, even meat is not on shelves yet. Will get food out.

Anyone want to tell her the the grid is all about distributed generation?

Was nadin able to get cheese, or unable to get cheese?

Would you know, Banned or Jake?  Is one able, or not able, to get cheese in your neck of the woods?

Hey, they think you can both raise taxes AND create jobs, what's wrong with both getting cheese and cheese not being available at the same time?

Get your Nadin "Blackout Kit" now. It includes a pair of uninsulated wire pliers, 15 feet of hay baling wire, also uninsulated and half a roll of cheap Chinese electrical tape. Don't be caught unprepared for the next blackout. Instructions on how to hang yourself or electrocute yourself if your neighbor has a generator are also included. Don't suffer needlessly.

Last time I checked, cold cuts were meat as well.  Not tasty tasty meat, but meat by product nonetheless.

I can`t say,think it was in 2007 but don`t remember for sure.
No doubt it would have all been President Bushs fault.

Wonder why the DUmbasses aren`t screaming about the fact that O let this happen?

Because it's Bush's fault still.  Obama still acts like he's only been in office 30 days.

Did a search and it was 2003 (where has the time and my memory gone?) and found this.

Poll question: Blackout 2003- MIHOP or just one of those wacky things that happen

Hmmmmmm...Iraq turning into a quagmire. A good buddy of the BFEE(someone quite possibly in the room with Dickless Cheney and Kennyboy at the Energy Task-Force Brunch and Forum of World Domination) has a shoddy power company...there's LOTS of money to be usurped from the people in "upgrading" THE GRID(at a time when proper investment in Research & Development could make THE GRID obsolete)...yadda, yadda, yadda...lights out. 4:11pm on a thursday in August, after the markets close...
So- what do you think?

POWER OUTAGE:
Poll result (28 votes)
MIHOP    (21 votes, 75%)   Vote
Just one of those wacky things that happen    (7 votes, 25%)   Vote

5. maybe someone's trying to hamper the bfee...
though rove et al try will to use the event...it still adds to sensation that something terrible wrong with the administration (bush gang) even george norry saying very fishy smell about entire episode.
Shortly prior to aug14, someone was speculating what the bfee was going to do...a huge explosion in some defenseless city(?) or so on.....the power blackout (especially the neocons instant pronouncement it NOT A TERROR event) suggests that several months of peace/quiet desperately wanted by bfee, and all bfee's enemies maybe pile up events (plane crashes, more power failures... whatever?) to create more 'bush not worth it' type thinking, esp among freepers

Are they joking? What response could they be refering to. Why aren't they asking about the timing of this black-out. Was jumping to blame Canada an adequate response? Now they have just been rolling the blame around the country.
Until they blame the putting our utilities in private greedy hands the response will not be adequate. This include taking steps to return the utilities in this country back to the public.

3. Back to the 1st Question
   Response adequate?

Let's see: 1) Shrub did NOTHING to reassure the public, only addressed the issue belatedly and on tape, looking drunk.

2) The Energy Secty was literally asleep, overseas, symbolically for being ASLEEP AT THE SWITCH.

3) The affected public was literally out on the street, and as somebody posted here, completely vulnerable to being gassed or whatever.

4) Nothing but FORMER Energy Secty Bill RICHARDSON all over the Shrub media, giving the opening for BLAMING CLINTON. As the CNN anchor said to RICHARDSON, "Why wasn't this taken care of while YOU were there?"

Is the question rhetorical yet?

GoNads is a DUmbass socialist.
She wants to redistribute the distribution.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

Didn't this happen at about the same time 0 was rehashing his hash? Maybe the grid just couldn't take it? Maybe the grid just shut down so it wouldn't have to hear 0 say "pass this bill right away" over and over and over and over again?  Maybe it was surfing the 'net for the bill in question and picked up a virus instead, since no bill seems to exist to be passed? Maybe Jesse Ventura will address this and other questions in the new season of Conspiracy with Jesse Ventura?

Who knows? Many DUmmies believe everything has a soul. I vote for self-protection.

I'm finding hard to believe that her power was out that long. I live maybe a mile from her and mine came on at 10:10 last night, a total of 6.5 hours without service.  I know there were problem areas and that they were restoring service section by section, but I call bullshit on 18 hours. :bs:

The last time we had a longish blackout around here, any thing that was perishable was thrown out, probably for liability reasons, and the shelves weren't restocked until the power was restored.  So, it makes sense that milk, cheese, and meat would be unavailable until a delivery truck came.  There are probably plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables available though.
