Wisconsin Union Council Bans Republicans From Labor Day Parade
Monday, 29 Aug 2011 02:29 PM

By Newsmax Wires

A Wisconsin labor council that sponsors the Labor Day parade in Wausau is giving Republican lawmakers their walking papers — in the form of banning them from walking in the parade this year — saying they are unfriendly to union workers.

The action is the latest salvo in the political fallout from Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s reining in collective-bargaining rights for public employees to cut the state budget. Republicans supported the measure, while Democrats were so opposed that several senators fled the state to avoid voting on it.

The controversy over the proposals in February and March sparked a summer of discontented recall elections in which Republicans ultimately retained control of the Senate in the Badger State, where they also hold the Governor’s Mansion and the state Assembly.

"Usually they've been in the parade, but it seems like they only want to stand with us one day a year, and the other 364 days they don't really care," said Randy Radtke, president of the Marathon County Central Labor Council, which includes about 30 local unions.

Republican Congressman Sean Duffy’s office also criticized the ban during the weekend, issuing a statement saying, "Having walked in this parade in past years, Congressman Duffy was hoping that for a moment, we could set our differences aside and simply have some fun in a family-friendly event."

<snip>

WSAW-TV also quoted the Republican Party of Lincoln County as saying that the parade’s tradition now will end over "petty and short sighted anger toward legally elected officials."

Republicans hope to resolve the conflict with Wausau city officials before Labor Day, which is Monday, WSAW reported.

The parade’s grand marshal, by the way, is slated to be a Democrat: State Rep. Donna Seidel of Wausau.

"They cannot win. We outnumber them in this country, and we have the guns… I’m not kidding. They talk a mean game, but they will not cross that line because they know what they’re dealing with."

Unions and liberals should be banned from Christmas, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas parades.  All of those holidays are anathema to the liberals.

My prediction, the republicans WILL sue, the WUC will be told to include them, but in desperation, they will cancel the whole thing.

I have been having fun with this story for the last couple days.  Over at the Wausau Daily Herald website they have a story on this where you can leave comments.  A DUmmie named HelenWheels posted a plea on Skin's Island to round up a posse and head over and post comments favorable to the union thugs and to thumb down tea partyer comments.  I've been doing a little general disrupting and teasing HelenWheels about bringing in a bunch of outside agitators.

The mayor of Wausau responded late this afternoon: http://www.wsaw.com/home/headlines/GOP_Politicians_Banned_from_Labor_Day_Parade_128541013.html
Bottom line is, include everyone or pay us back for city services.
To say this WI union nonsense has worn thin is an understatement.

The first comments page is 100% conservative.
I made my post. Not as cool as some of the others though.

Oh no, they've been banned from walking in a union parade.  How will they ever recover.

The repubs should be proud. Why walk in a parade with those losers and thugs anyways?
I do like Thundley's response the best.

I understand the city now will not fund anything to do with the parade.

Wisconsin Unions Reverse Labor Day Parade Decision, Say GOP Lawmakers Can March

First Posted: 8/31/11 11:28 AM ET Updated: 8/31/11 11:36 AM ET

WASHINGTON -- A group of Wisconsin union officials has reversed its decision barring GOP politicians from marching in a local Labor Day parade, saying everyone would be allowed "because we don't want to have community groups and school bands affected." Rep. Sean Duffy (R-Wis.), one of the affected politicians, said he will now likely attend the parade in Wausau, which falls within his district.

"We made alternate plans, and he’s walking in a different Labor Day parade in Merrill in the morning," said Duffy's chief of staff, Brandon Moody. "But the short answer is yes, the congressman is going to try to make it, and we’re moving things around so he can attend both."

The Marathon County Central Labor Council, which sponsors the Wausau parade, includes some 30 local unions.

In a statement issued late Tuesday, council president Randy Radtke said that while Republicans would be allowed, they should feel "ashamed" to attend because of their records on workers' rights. He singled out the federal and state lawmakers representing Wausau -- Rep. Duffy, state Sen. Pam Galloway (R-Wausau) and state Rep. Jerry Petrowski (R-Marathon) -- as well as the state's Republican governor, Scott Walker.

"We didn't start this fight in Wisconsin, but were responding to anti-worker positions and policies supported by local Republican politicians, including those who have complained about not being invited," said Radtke. "With the track records that Pam Galloway, Sean Duffy, Scott Walker and Jerry Petrowski have all put together this year, they should be ashamed to even show their faces at a Labor Day parade."
"They cannot win. We outnumber them in this country, and we have the guns… I’m not kidding. They talk a mean game, but they will not cross that line because they know what they’re dealing with."

Here's what pissed me off the most, Sean Duffy had absolutely ZERO to do with the bill.  It was a state issue, he works in the federal.  They pointed fingers at the wrong guy.

Thank you to those who called the high schools, Jr. High Schools and the community groups for voicing their concerns over this " non racial Jim Crow style" tactic Radtke tried to pull.
