My first project in the townhome
« on: August 28, 2011, 11:25:54 PM »
Well, not my first, but my first REALLY manual labor project. I did lay St. Augustine out back which, I don't give a damn WHAT people tell you, will not GROW in the direct Georgia sun. I've since laid about 15 pounds of Bermuda seed and had a little old growth Bermuda that's kicking ass.

Didn't have pictures of the linoleum that was there before.

Here's my next project, I'm taking 4 days off for this, Th, Fr, Mo, and Tu:

Trust me, I don't think that's going to be NEARLY as bad a laying tile. This is the 8th time I've laid tile and it always leaves me me like I've been tackled by a Samoan. Hell, it's like golf. I didn't even know I HAD muscles there.

Now, here's a cute puppy to let you take it all in:

BTW, and some saw the pics of both litters, he's the one on the right:

I'm gonna need therapy in about 13 years when he goes.

Good luck.  I like the tile in the bathroom.  Can't wait to see the finished pictures of the entry.  I am assuming that's the entry anyway.  Your dog is cute.

Won't be just the entry. I'm hardwooding the entire house, save the two bedrooms.

If you do not have kneepads, pick up a pair at Home Depot. They are lifesavers.

Got'em. Hardwood installation looks like it's going to cost me about 600 bucks more because the guy at Lumber Liquidators said he did NOT recommend gluing to the concrete, but using Elastilon underlayment. That stuff is almost 200 bucks a roll (107 sq ft). I'm doing about 520 sq ft. I just want the carpet gone. These dogs are destroying it plus I want to rent this thing the first week of next April, and these 2 BR townhomes go for 3K.

The wood is cheap though, 1.19 a square foot, and I'm using 4". I can get away with about 560 sq ft. The pic I posted was about 20 bucks worth.

...and there is a good chance my measurements are dead wrong, with the cabinets, bar area, etc.

Nice! The doggie is adorable too.
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Good advice.  You will be much happier for much longer going this way.  But 3K?  A month?  :o  Ouch!

My wife agrees with this.
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”
