We lost power and my apartment flooded

Now I need to decide to try to dry the place out, or to try to find another place. Tonight we will stay with family. We cant stay with family forever. We may need to go to the homeless shelter for a couple of weeks until we can find a new place to live.

Another day in paycheck to paycheck America. If I wasn't so ill, I could skip some medications and medical appointments and have more then enough money to avoid homelessness.

Single payer would have kept a roof over our heads. Now I pay over $200.Io per month on medical costs. My safety money is all gone. I need a bailout.

Ah, to be sick and working in America. God Bless.

2. I would explore all your options before making any decisions. Terribly sorry for your situation, but check & see what assistance might be available from FEMA & Red Cross and alike. Also insurance, check with the landlord on their plans for your place and take your time.

11. newburgh ny

we have a place for tonight.. need long term plans soon though..

Hmmmm.  One wonders if the Polaroid Kid, Pedro Picasso, the Atman primitive's, second house in Connecticut is habitable.  It's reasonably close to Newburgh.  Reasonably, like surely less than 200 miles.

Perhaps somebody better versed in renter's law than I could help me with this.  If an apartment in uninhabitable, would rent still be due?  How long would a landlord generally have after a natural disaster to resolve any issues before the lease could legally be broken without repercussions?

I think DUmmy mdmc is the moonbat who serves as a model for DUmmy Omaha Steve's political career.

He was so excited about his run for democrat committeeman.

It would just be a stepping stone to Albany, and then, who knows? Someday Chuckie Schumer will need a replacement.

But then, damn, as he explained to his colleagues in the DUmp mental health forum, he couldn't get anyone to sign his petition.

The madman of Newburgh used to spend a ton of time in the DUmp's nuthatch forum, comparing pharmaceuticals with the other unhinged DUmmies.

This is where they cross the line into insanity. What the heck does single payer have to do with your house flooding? and consider yourself lucky, $200 a month? try close to $1,000 a month, I thought Obama was going to fix that? you know what would though? allowing me to shop around all over the US for a plan that's good for my family instead of only being allowed a couple of choices!

Why can't he stay with family until his apt is dried out and livable?  Did DUmmie already wear out his welcome?

I assume you made it through the hurricane okay.

Some members from New England have checked in, hours before I thought they would be able to, and a couple from North Carolina.

No report however from my good friend JohnnyReb in South Carolina; I'm going to be saying a special prayer tonight that it pleased God to spare him and his.

I wonder when mdmc is going to be screaming for his FEMA trailer, bottle water and free visa.

Oh and also "let him touch those things for once" (or let 'em loot) ala Celine Dion.

We basically got through it OK, wasn't able to get on the board earlier today, I think the site was down. We have tons of flooding in the area, a lot of power outages, but luckily we had only 2 short outages and hardly any flooding, the biggest problem has been the flooding and down power lines from the winds knocking over the trees. Hope everyone else is doing well with the Hurricane.

When the neighbor was here early this morning, just before he shut off the radio in his truck and got out, he heard that the eye of the hurricane was directly over.....Coney Island.

Of course, it's calm in the eye, but think of what went in front of the eye, and followed the eye.

All I could think was, "Oh, the humanity!"

He went on a family vacation and all he did was fight with his girlfriend, complain about being broke and talk about his neeeeeeeeeds.  The family probably has had enough.

Thanks for the concern Frank but there was nothing to worry about here. All I got out of the hurricane was a mild breeze and no rain.

My Cousin works for NYC so he had to work a 24 hour shift, he said the Hudson River was wicked!

My town had a State of Emergency called, so my wife wasn't letting me go anywhere.  But, Gilboa Dam is providing some moments down on the Mohawk, and definitely down on the Schoharie Creek (which is wider than a lot of rivers).  I saw that Vermont is reeling under this.  The town of Windham in the Catskills had a foot of rain in nine hours, and the town is flooded out.

I don't even call this homeless.  It's more in the manner of "The apartment was flooded by the storm and we have to find somewhere else to live."  But, without drama for a primitive, what's the point of living?

None.  Zero.  No flooding, other than a four-lane road near our apartment that always floods, but it was maybe ten inches (I probably wouldn't drive through it, unless I had a Jeep).  We had flickers of the lights yesterday--maybe a dozen spread out through the late morning and mid-evening hours--but that was it.  There are people near me that had trees come down on power lines.  My sister, some 20 miles north of me, lost power for close to four hours yesterday morning, thenabout half an hour later, for ten minutes.  My parents, three miles north of them, lost power for eleven hours.

I wonder, if ALL the dams in Vermont and New Hampshire were to fail, if it would flush the Massholes out to sea
and restore those two little states to decency.

Maybe not, but it would be worth a try.

Anybody hear from catsmtrods?

At the very tail end of it, the picture on the TV showed it curling around toward Albany and heading right toward us.  All was well though.  Rain and wind; power held.

That Newburgh crybaby is always feeling sorry for himself, and it's always tiresome.  I think we all know people like this in real life, and avoid them whenever possible.  It's such a DUmp trait:  Go make a woe-is-me thread, then, when people chime in with advice, shoot it all down with a variety of pathetic excuses.  No wonder his familly want him the hell out yesterday.

Well, President Bush is clearly to blame for global warming, which is why we have hurricanes.
In this case, Dubya couldn't even put on a good hurricane. Damn Bush.
