nadinbrzezinski (1000+ posts) Thu Aug-25-11 02:58 PMOriginal message Guidelines for emergency supplies I know I know, you are hearing all this about water for three days...So here are the minimum requirements for what you need to ride this.. .having more is not a bad ideaWater:1 gallon per day per person... Personally I recommend three gallons, so you can do some cooking and some basic toweling down but that is the minimum. It is for you to do some basic hygiene (brushing teeth, washing hands, and drinking) This is the BARE MINIMUM, a gallon a day per person.Canned food that can be eaten WITHOUT heating for three days.... MREs work well as well... for that you should think of one box per person per day... they are that calorie dense. Also tuna in the pouches is great for this. It goes without saying a manual can opener, a swiss army knife works great in these things. Flashlights... (Preferred you get the wind up ones, otherwise get quite a bit of batteries too)Radio... see about flashlights. Oh and add a charger for the cell... This is the minimum. You also need sturdy shoes, sturdy work gloves...A barbecue with ENOUGH FUEL will be a good idea, a gas one that connects to your wall... well you may lose gas lines.Cell Phones... realize during the emergency they may not connect or connect to people outside the affected area... so have call plans. Getting them windows shuttered is not a bad idea, actually should be done...And while the storm is going on... and inside room or shelter... stay away from windows, even if they are shuttered. Oh and turn to your local nooz...
There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

An EPIC storm surge from a Cat 3 hurricane? What planet do you live on, Nadin?
Which will be, at most, a strong Cat 1 or weak Cat 2 when it hits Long Island.
My best guess would be a Cat 1 or return to a Tropical Storm. They die quickly once they hit landfall, and I expect this to hit landfall along the NC coast prior to NY or the New England area.
Not to mention the Newfoundland stream? that brings cold water down. Bob Van Dillan talked about it this morning on my future wife's show. The temperature near Savannah is around 85. Up there it's about 75-80 and only gets cooler the further up it goes, though this is common knowledge to all of us that live around hurricane areas, I.e. warmer water = stronger hurricanes. Yo DUmbasess, Sparky is correct. I'm not sure you need to be turning to some dumb narcissistic bitch in California for advice on hurricanes.
I mean, Hurricane Irene is headed for the east coast and I haven't heard a peep from her yet regarding this situation.
No sooner do I post this than I notice Nadin now is weighing in on HURRICANES! And this time it looks like she’s getting some blowback from her fellow DUmmies, who have had enough of her condescending advice. This could be good! I’ll let this build up for a while, and it could make for an entertaining sequel tomorrow!
"The nation that couldn’t be conquered by foreign enemies has been conquered by its elected officials" odawg Free Republic in reference to the GOP Elites who are no difference than the Democrats
Where the hell did she come from? I don't seem to remember her from our CU days.
She's always been there.I guess the dementia is a recent development.
Not a hard hit...just kinda skirting along the Outer Banks, then over Delmarva peninsula, then off the NJ coast before it flushes out NYC and up into New England. Local (Manch/Boston) stations are still calling for hurricane force winds until at least early Monday morning (when we get hit.) Still forecast to be weak Cat 2/strong Cat 1 when it hits NY.
I never saw Malloy's board. Is that where that degenerate retard troll came from, or was it another on?
