No you don't.

There is something about feral cats...and I can't remember what it is. The two kittens we got for my daughter were feral rescue cats and there was something she had to do, when she got them, and I can't remember what it is called. Their foster mother was doing it, and J had to continue it for several weeks, because like you, she was gone a lot between working and going to x-ray tech school full time.

It getting them used to humans, to keep them more, um, tame? rather than feral. I remembered it when Traves said you need to get down on the floor with him. That's what J had to do. Lay down on the floor and let them come to her, and not try to force herself on them, to let them force themselves onto her, without her moving. I remember it was real hard for her, because she just wanted to gather them up and cuddle them.

We still have one of them, and she's the one who now wants to cuddle on our chest and shoulder. She's a big fat baby.

I think this may be female.  I got a better look and don't see any testicles where I would expect them to be (I know nothing about cats).

And I still say it's in heat, or close to it.

I had the impression you're working more than 40 hours a week, and assumed there was overtime or another sort of bonus in it.

I stay over occasionally if I really have to get something done, but I only get paid for 40 hours a week.

I was hired as a contract-to-hire which should have been reviewed in February but probably never happened.  I wasn't comfortable bringing it up at the time, but now my SLA numbers are consistently above 75% so I emailed my boss and his manager last week about a review.  I should be eligible for a raise.

She looks about that old.  She's been eating more this week than she did the last few.  I came home Friday and the food bowl was entirely empty.

Well, then you best get her to a vet, and get her spayed.

As long as she doesn't go outside it won't be a problem, but you might have some horny males howling outside your apartment which won't make your neighbors very happy.  :whistling:

Chris, did you ever find out of that was an orange tabby?  Female orange tabbies are very unusual.  We only had maybe three or four of them in all the years we had the cattery.  I can't remember if they went into heat, though.  :confused: :confused:

If it is beyond a couple of months old, you should start to see a "powder puff" developing.    

[edit] Called the cat expert- otherwise known as mother- the sterile cats were the tortoiseshell males, not the orange tabby females.

I was sitting on the couch watching TV and the cat decides to crawl behind me and rub itself all over my head.  On one of the passes, it tried to wrap its entire body around my face.

You will know Cat truly loves you when it starts to lick your hair. I know that sounds weird, but if you had more than one, you would see how they clean each other's faces, tops of heads and ears. Yours will do it too, once it decides to "own" you.  :-)

Cats, all cats have the same behavior from the 6 pound home kept cat to the huge jungle cats, only difference is their size and strength.

Odd my Maine Coon cats are much biger then my ankle biters but ignore the old dudes and spend hours a day playing with the young dog, the male his little hair on its tail from the Pup dragging him about by the tail. Odd behavior for a cat that will taunt a dog to chase them.

Cats are odd they wll give a love bite and it may hurt and then paw your face with claws withdrawn.

BTY my Boss was as he said attacked by his cat for no reason the sucker flew the air and bit him for no reason, boss got big time blood poisioning and was on antiboitics fo a couple weeks.   He kept the Cat for some reason and after a few years still has him.  I wonder what the Boss was doing at the time of the attack. 

 I have had cats that made some decision on their own about my visitors, some they would sit directly in front of the guest between me and the guest, follow the guest about the house and wait outside the bathroom if they used it.  Back to the living room and took up guard duty never taking their eyes off them.  Kind of creepy behavior but I made sure that guest never entered the house again.

I had one cat that took it apon themself to escort the kids to the school bus stop, came home and left to meet the bus and walk them home.    WHY, we did not do anything but feed the cat, left a window open so it could go out, no one really bonded with the cat------ Cat are strange.

Were all cats to weigh 90 pounds we could not have them in our homes, they all have the same instincts, watch your cat chase a flash ligh on the floor or wall, outside cats bring home thopies to give to you be it mice or snakes, this is their gift to you, they expect to be praised for their gift.

This nice little kitty may guard you and give you love but remember, this little ball of fluff is a natural born killer and just don't understand they are not Lions.   I have seen on You Tube a 5 pound cat scare the hell out of a black bear, plant them selves on the face of a pit bull and cause the poor dog to panic.

You are blessed to have a cat, watch them, let them come to you, talk to them and enjoy them, but allow them to be what they are CATS. These felines are not dogs or ayother pets you may get they are unlike and facinating to watch.
