The Circut City in Portland,Me closed its doors and now a Goodwill. There's a BestBuy right down the road at the Maine Mall which does well as it gets the Mall traffic as Circut City stood alone. It makes sense to close the buildings, if their losses are outweighing their profit. They might keep the online store and items will be shipped from a warehouse.
As for as Borders go, they might keep their online store going, unless Barnes and Nobles buys them out. Barnes and Noble has their own Ebook as I don't think Borders did.
I think within the next 10 years, alot of these big specialized retail establishments will go this route if the economy doesn't make a turn around.
I will tell you one retail place that does well, is Mardens. They do have good bargains
Yes Walmart is huge, but they grew too fast, and now because of the economy, the bigger stores are getting hit hard, and the associates are paying the price(cutting hours).
Taxing the rich and big corporations, just because you(braindamaged) can have more is just dumb, because they are struggling as well.
