Describe your dream job.

Edited on Wed Aug-17-11 05:13 PM by Chan790
I was just thinking about this, now that I am unemployed, I can in-theory do anything I want as a career. My world is wide open. And yet, my dream job is:

*Strictly 9-5.
*Provides a clear work/life divide.
*Pays a moderate-low amount of money, say $30K, with little or no chance of significant raise or promotion.
*White-collar
*Not client-facing.

Beyond that, I don't really think I have any great career aspirations. I just want to work, get paid, not have quotas to meet, go home, leave all my work @ work and live my life. I want to be a paper-pusher. Really. I want Peter's job from Office Space except I'm not showing up on weekends either.

3. Flying a cargo B-747 out of Pensacola to...

Amsterdam, Milan, London, Paris, and Athens.
My favorite cities.

With a minimum 24 hours in each layover point.

Cargo, because it's WAY more laid back than passengers.
B-747, because I just liked it.
Pensacola, because it's less than an hour from my house.

Of course I'd want the same salary I used to make.
And benefits.
Oh, and a chauffeured limo to take me to and from Pensacola.

I quit flying in 1999 mainly because the commute from Pensacola to New York was killing me.

5. Apparently I really am the only person alive with zero career ambition.

That probably explains how I ended up at the bank.

Wrong.  By hanging around the DUmp, you are surrounded by people with zero career ambition.

It's hard to believe that a DUmmie would post something that is almost 50% honest. When it's ran through the "DUmmie Fabrication to Truth Translator" not much was changed.

I just want to work, get paid, not have quotas to meet, go <lounge around> home, leave all my work @ work and live my life.

DUmmie dream job....get paid to sit in mommies basement and spread liberal lies....hey, that's what most are already doing.

DUmmie dream jobs:

Captain of one of those Green Peace boats that messes with whaling ships.
Member of a left-wing commando squad that kidnaps the likes of V.P. Cheney or Karl Rove and hands them over to the International Court at The Hague.

Well, except for Pensacola Regional Airport not being capable of handling 747's and not having much in the way of cargo to exchange directly with London, Paris, or Athens there is nothing wrong with this idea.

In fact, this idiot doesn't pay much attention at all.  The Escambia Board of Commissioners, Democrat or Republican, are all pro good ole boys club and chase off anyone that might change the status quo.  So no his dream job is not at all feasible, ever.  Pensacola with it's larger population was outcompeted for new Commercial Air traffic by Fort Walton and Panama CIty.

Also, he didn't do a direct Pensacola-New York run.  He would have been making runs between Pensacola and Atlanta, Nashville, or Charlotte depending on the airline

My dream job would be work on Mythbusters. But that is never gonna happen so.....

Working in a engineering company developing and testing new things or improving old ones. Oh, DARPA might be fun. I used to want a job that required a lot of travel but I got burned out by airports and cramped planes years ago. That and bed bugs do not appeal to me.

Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

Would definitely stay as a dream though - they're both a bit too active. Bitching on the web about how they're going to do it seems to suit more.

Point of order: queers don't breed.

They'll just adopt your kids and take the $1,500/month stipend for them after they have the DoJ seize them because you were homeschooling.

OK, truth time:

They want a job where they can kick back, smoke skunky bud, eat cheetos (or tofu and wild rice for the 'health conscious'), and post on DU about how terrible people who have more than them are. And it better pay at least $1000 a week with free rent, food, medical, cable, Internet,  and an oz. of quality indo a week.

And if they don't get it, they are going on strike, and might even riot.
Capitalism is based on self-interest and self-esteem; it holds integrity and trustworthiness as cardinal virtues and makes them pay off in the marketplace, thus demanding that men survive by means of virtue, not vices. It is this superlatively moral system that the welfare statists propose to improve upon by means of preventative law, snooping bureaucrats, and the chronic goad of fear.

30. Painting beautiful murals on people's walls and ceilings.

Supervising a staff to do the routine stuff, and having the customers love it and pay me lots of money to beautify their houses.
With a bit of redecorating too.

Not only is this DUmmie trying to sneak capitalistic tendencies past the other DUmmies, but wants to become a member of the bourgeois class, to boot.

32. Dude, I live in Wheaton on the unemployment from a 22K job.

I really can live on $30k, at least for now. That's enough to pay off my student loans within 3 years, live how I want and pay off my credit cards by Jan. 1.

Wait, how can you already be living off of your unemployment "salary", after you were just fired two days ago?  Also, whoever guessed bank teller deserves some sort of prize.

35. Running a progressive think tank and policy institute.

Conferences, retreats, etc. as well as grooming people to go on the talking-head shows to counteract the conservabots from the Heritage Foundation and the like.

The only tank any DUmmies are qualified to be members of is a drunk tank.  Although, with the chimp-like tendencies of the DUmmies, grooming people might actually be a job they would excel at.
