Would vote for him if he wins the primary? I'm probably one of the most libertarian-minded people on the board, but sorry, I don't think I could vote for him. He's the type where I agree with wholeheartedly on about 80%, but it's not like I'm saying I could give or take the other 20%, I think the other 20% is f'n BATSHIT INSANE. This idiot has no problem with Iran getting Nukes. He believes in giving terrorists constitutional rights. If it's between him and Obama, who I think is DESTROYING this nation, I might have to write-in or vote 3rd party. Bitchslap me all you want, but this fool doesn't need to be anywhere NEAR the back of the Resolute desk. IIRC, he's also for open borders.

This puts me in a quandary.

Paul can't win the primary.

If he was a threat to anyone, the 20 years of racist newsletters would be brought out. Paul hates Jews and blacks and that fact stands out clearly in his own writings.

Paul can't win a primary. He could never win a national election.

But to answer your question. NO. I could never vote for Paul. He just supported legalizing drugs...NO. Just NO.
I don't care if it were him and Obama....I would go 3rd party or sit the election out.

That's a big 10-4.  I like his stance on a lot of individual liberty issues (I.e. the Second Amendment), not so keen on the drugs and I don't think he even really understands what he's going to end up with on that one if he did get his way (I could deal with that, things would go to Hell for 6 months and he'd either be impeached or find a clue).  Problem is he has even less (If possible) grasp of US military and strategic issues and our role in the international scene than Obama.

Nope, couldn't do it, 1 of my main reasons for supporting any Republican is the Supreme Court, I don't consider Ron Paul a Republican, and he needs to switch to either Independent or Libertarian, and I wouldn't trust who he'd nominate.

Don't give him any ideas, we don't need him to think he can win as a 3rd party and splitting the GOP vote. He can run as an independent in 2016 against President Cain, or Perry, or whoever it turns out to be.

He can't, he won't.  Say what you want about age, but he's 78 now.  That, IMO, is too old already.

Rebel, don't worry about Dr. Nuts too much.  The straw poll is mostly worthless, other than it got Pawlenty out of the race.  The good people of Iowa will not let him win in the caucuses.  To quote Wee Willie Pitt, "Bank it!"

Yeah, I'm not sure I'd actually bank that.  The Iowa caucuses are a pure dog-and-pony show of getting enough passionate nuts to show up and intimidate the opposition and/or outlast them, or even occasionally pull some dirty tricks out of the bag.  It's the kind of game where the Ronbots excel.  Where he will actually start sucking it big time is in states that have elections as their vehicle for primaries, except possibly NH where I understand he has a following.

The good thing is 99% of the Paulbots will vote for whoever is nominated on the Republican ticket, and they will show up to vote.

Not nearly as much of one as one might expect.  Remeber, he finished FIFTH here, even with the primary here where independents can vote either party.  The FSP is a joke, IMO, and not to be taken seriously, nor do they wield the power they want or others (read: liberals) wish to portray them as having.

And Erasmus, there's a lot of the college kiddies set here that pulled for Dr. Nutz in the primary, then turned right around and voted for Obama.  At this point, it's a two-way race in NH between Romney and Perry, with the edge going to Romney due to the name recognition and his "moderate" stance.  Bachman will finish no higher than third here, and a distant third at that.

Thanks for the update on NH, Sparky, I was wondering about Dr. Nutz and how strong he was likely to be there now.  I'm sure the total legalization of recreational pharmaceuticals and reducing the risk of a draft to zero were big selling points with the college community, including the overaged hippy barnacles one finds around every campus.

Sadly, there's a lot of liberal havens in NH, of which Portsmouth, Durham (UNH campus) and Keene (Dartmouth, FSP HQ) are high on the list.  Zeitgeist can correct me if he thinks I'm missing anything.
