I really suggest that you guys read it. It disproves some of our basic assumptions about younger black MSM engaging in down-low/riskier behaviors etc. I would love if you all read it before commenting.

My very devout aunt became something of a monster, really unhinged but she never, out of shame, told anyone what she was enduring. My uncle presented himself as a victim of a crazy woman, one he didn't divorce because of his religion. It was only after her death did the story come out from my cousin (who btw is gay) that my uncle, who it seems hated women, deloiberately drove her over the edge.

That makes no sense.  AIDS can only be transmitted from one human to another by some type of bodily fluid; whether it be blood, semen or vaginal fluid, breast milk, etc...  Exactly how does being at higher risk for a hate crime, homelessness, poverty, etc... cause someone to have unprotected sex or stick a needle in their arm?

You contact AIDS, minus those who attained it by blood transfusion or a trusted spouse/lover lying to you about having it (or passing it along not knowing they had it), chances are you did it to yourself by being foolish.  I highly doubt the risk is that much higher for black twinkies than it is white twinkies.

Right now I'm living that life - but thats because I'm totally rehabbing half of the living room (double parlor, separated by a pair of columns) and all the furniture that was in that room is now in a few other rooms making for a messy cluttered experience. I have most of the wall repairs and painting done, and soon I'm going to start the floor sanding and refinishing.. By hand - no bigass, destructive floor sander for me. Then its on to the other half.. :p

Just one photo to show where I'm going with it..


Anyway for me, the clutter is a temporary setback. How people can live packed to the rafters with stuff is a mystery to me. Hell, I think there is too much stuff in the house as-is and would like to discard a large percentage of it.

I did that at my current house. It took me five years. I pulled all of the wood off, dip stripped it and refinished it. Hardwood floors throughout. Replace all doors with  six panel, solid core. Took the bathrooms and kitchen to the studs and sub-floor.

My wife got so fed up, she rented an apartment. :)

Thanks - I like the clean lines the dark blue is creating when contrasted against the white borders and woodwork. That window is original to the house, making it about 145 years old.

But so are all the windows. Its a small historical property, and I have been maintaining it as such - so no vinyl, modern windows, etc. It even sports a Historical Preservation Society plaque by the front door. Labor of love, for sure.
