More Of The Same: Fox News Maintains Large Lead Over Cable News Competitors In July

The cable news ratings game is best adjudged by trends: who is moving up or down from month to month or year to year. And while last month the big story was HLN’s enormous ratings (due almost exclusively due the Casey Anthony story) there is another item worth noting, even though the story might be somewhat unremarkable: Fox News was the #1 cable news network for the 115th consecutive month going back to January of 2002, and the network was the fourth most-watched cable network in all Primetime.

In both Primetime and Total Day, FNC beat CNN and MSNBC combined in total viewers. During total day, FNC was the seventh most-watched cable network; meanwhile, CNN ranked #30, MSNBC at #31 and HLN at #13. Fox News also secured eight out of the top 10 programs in cable news in total viewers and seven out of the top 10 programs in the 25-54 demo.

FOX and Friends continued to post year-to-year growth (up 12% in 25-54 (334,000); up 7% in P2+ (965,000)) while beating MSNBC’s Morning Joe and CNN’s American Morning combined in both P2+ and 25-54. Both Special Report with Bret Baier and Fox Report with Shepard Smith ranked in the top five programs in P2+. Special Report was #3 and FOX Report was #5.

The top five cable news programs in P2+: The O’Reilly Factor (2,793,000); Hannity (2,059,000); Special Report (1,815,000); On the Record (1,658,000); and FOX Report (1,576,000)

Hey DUmmies, read it an weep.  The death of Fox News has been greatly exaggerated .  I know this doesn't really belong here, but the DUmmies pay more attention to this forum.  :-)

How many liberal newspapers are on the brink of going under as well?

It seems strange, but lately on Comcast I've noticed PMSNBC commercials for O'Donnell and screaming, spitting Chris Mathews while watching Fox.
I guess they're ad slots that belong to the cable company, and they can sell them to anyone.
I'm sure Fox doesn't have ads on PMSNBC, since no one watches, but if they did, you'd hear outrage from the DUmp.

Hey!  Wasn't Fox supposed to be quarantined by now?  What's up with that?  Also, Moveon.org was trying to get rid of them, begging for money at the DUmp in order to do so.  I know that Snoutport/Shitpot/whatever gave his last $20, so what happened?

Not to worry, as soon as they get the smart chips installed in your electric meters so Obama can set your air conditioning temperature, a certain percentage of you will automatically be watching CNN, PMSNBC, and the soon-to-be-funded-by-deficit-spending NPRTV.  Part of the White House's "spread-the-viewers" initiative.
