Really! I've lived here my entire life and I remember it gets hot every summer. NEWS FLASH, Then it cools down and gets cold in the winter.
"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

We are fortunate in the NE that we don't see temps hit 100 often -- it was freakin hot that week, I won't lie.    My kids didn't even want to be outside on some afternoons it was just miserable with the humidity.

We survived it though and the temp track is heading downward through Fall.    70s/80s during the day, and 50s/60s at night.

Far off in the distance you can hear the wheels on the bus starting to turn.   School will be back in session before we know it.

Have you ever noticed FL, that there is a tiny coldsnap on the 1st day of school and the fall leaves start showing up???

I often complain when it hits 90 here but 200? Good god they need to hire someone who understands basic math and can use both metric and imperial. 100F is only 37C. Not comfortable, but liveable. If the temperature ever got to 100C we'd all die.

It's looking good here now. No more 95 and high humidity, at least for several days and maybe longer. It's a pleasant 74 right now.

First time the A/C has been off in weeks. This one's for you, ComEd.  :bird:

Nothing above low 80's for next 10 days.  Neener neener neener.

Then again, I'll be bitching up a storm when the next 12-18 inches of "glowball warming" dumps on my driveway.

We're getting our umpteenth day of upper 90's with ridiculous humidity.  :argh:

Got absolutely dumped on with rain last night about 11:15, with incredible lightning and thunder. It lightninged for at least 2 hrs...multiple flashes at one time.

This morning it's like a sauna out there. 78* with 84% humidity.

Next 10 days are forecasted for over 90.

The night before last, it thundered with lots of lightning around here. Some strikes, but they had to be in the woods. In Frankfort, IL, a house was a total loss when lightning started a fire; the family was away on a vacation.

Our Boy Scout hut has a nice flag pole, on the order of what you would find out front of a school or post office. They were off backpacking for the weekend last year and mu son called and said they would be in shortly. I went over and was waiting for them when a sudded downburst went through. The flag pole is anchored in a large chunk of concrete but it didn't matter...it laid the pole and base over. I wouldn't have belived if I hadn't seen it happen myself. They met over there a few days later and stood it all up with a backhoe and poured more concrete.
