Well folks get them belts on

1.- Downgrades are coming.

2.- Default is coming.

3.- It will not be nice.

No I don't claim to see into the future, but that is what happened tonight. We are at an impasse of historic proportions. Yes it is about the social contract.

And to those who do not believe there are cycles in history... go pick up a copy of the Fourth Turning. As hokey as it is at times... this is one of those cycles...

By the way, this is the Dysfunctional congress BEFORE the civil war...

Yes, it is one of those moments.

Oh and yes, it may go hot and I do not say this lightly. Nor am I looking forwards to it. But all you know, is probably over unless these guys (and gals) wake up and smell the fracking coffee.

9. It is when a manufactured crisis

becomes real... that is the problem. I have seen this... in effect... the hostage takers have killed a hostage. When that happens you send SWAT in... your hostages are dead anyway. Sorry to put it this crass.

Kind of like the media was talking down the economy for the last two years of President Bush's term to help the Dems?

When in doubt....
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

When I was a little girl one of my favorite books was The Story of Chicken Little. I thought it was so funny, all those stupid animals running around in a panic. Of course they were eaten by the fox at the end because they followed anyone who promised to save them. And the sky wasn't even falling. But that's what happens when everyone starts following some hysterical nutcase chicken without doing a modicum of research or even stopping to think whether such a thing is even possible.

"I am a very good shot. I have hunted for every kind of animal. But I would never kill an animal during mating season."

I see the blowhard is shooting her mouth off again. I was going to make a new NB thread, but decided just to post her "There is irony in this cirisis" thread in this one.

There is irony in this cirisis
and well before you reach for them pitchforks, and we might get there, realize this... the RW prays at the altar of the Empire. Yep they do (as long as they don't have to fight in it). It ranges from Team B, all the way to PNAC (and strengthening America's Defenses.) Alas, we have reached the point that while they pray at that altar they are NOT WILLING TO PAY FOR IT... I mean, Taxed Enough Already, haven't you got the message?

The Empire is collapsing. No, it is not obvious yet, but it will be that much more expensive to keep troops in the field. THAT MUCH MORE expensive. So what happens when we can't afford to pay for them? The Empire is about to fall appart, and the irony of who is doing it, is just lovely.
