It's pretty interesting reading.  My husband and I personally never do any of the garbage these servers are complaining about and in fact go out of our way to leave at least 20% for fair service, 25%-30% for excellent service.  However, twice in our lives, hubby has insisted on leaving a penny tip, just so the server knew we hadn't forgotten, for absymal service due totally to the waiter.  

You're better than I am.  Several times, one in particular at a German restaurant close to downtown Philly, the tip from me was "find another line of work". 

I will pay well for good service (up to 50%) but will absolutely fry anyone's ass for crappy service.  Oh, in case any lurking DUmbasses may be wondering, I've been there/done that in food service as a teenager (bussed tables and washed dishes) and I make sure my children don't act like animals nor do I leave messes.

When I looked on the Rindge, NH town website, the only Pitt (Jane) I could find anywhere was listed not as a town lawyer, but as an "Acting Planning Director".  Alas, she no longer holds that position and is nowhere to be found amongst the public employees of said town.

The town of Rindge had a special election this spring which included a lot of individual budget items, like buying a new dump truck. Just prior to the election, DUmmy Raven, Jane Pitt, posted a screed at the DUmp ripping her superiors in the Rindge administration, and the voters of Rindge, as a bunch of stupid fundie yokels, who wanted to nothing but cut, cut, cut.  Immediately after the election, she was abruptly replaced by her assistant. The council met in closed session for a personnel matter, and there was never an explanation of why she was replaced.

She was wallduded for sure if that post she made at the DUmp ever made it into the hands of the Rindge council, who are apparently a bunch of fundie yokels by Pitt standards.

.....reading their thread, started by the Cross Eyed One.  They're running close to 100% in favor of her deserving her fate for revealing too much information about her employer.  A couple have expressed a modicum of sympathy for her.  All of them, including Andrea, admit to absolutely despising cali.

One thing did pop up.  A link to an old Elmer thread where MaryT (who was Binka at the DUmp before her TSing) swears up and down that cali is actually a man who lives in DC and works for the DLC.  MaryT/Binka is/was always one for hyperbole and rumor-mongering and over the top even for the DUmp.

By the way, by mentioning CaptRandom, who since has joined us here, I don't want to give any impression he's not welcome here.  Quite the contrary; I myself am very happy CaptRandom has decided to join us, and look forward to all he can contribute to the rest of us.

Thank you for those kind words Frank... After the hilarity of that awful affair died down I thought to myself, "Wow...I don't want to create a problem for these folks at CC." You all have been very nice and welcoming, far more then I had ever experienced at DU.  And while jumping around the forums here I never got that 'ice-pick in my right temple' feeling I get when I read the DU nonsense.

The one thing that does sadden me is that I was not able to explain to the group think WHY I had in fact contacted the owners Perennial Pleasures.  I'm also flabbergasted that I was TS'd for THAT.

In my defense I would like to say I view an employee admitting to an insect infestation at a food service establishment a very serious breech of assumed confidentiality.  In these tough economic times the last thing a gem like PP needs is that kind of negative posting existing on the Google search engine.

If and when I go to Vermont I would like to be sure Perennial Pleasures is still in business so that -I- can enjoy Cream Tea whilst sitting upon a rattan chair.  Holding my pinky out, sipping tea, and being serenaded by the haunting calls of the Cochin is something I am sure anyone would fight for.

Am I selfish? Yes.  It has been a hot summer and my job is physically demanding so when I saw, perhaps, the only chance for me to be treated like a red hat society lady vanishing before my eyes I had to act to defend this crown jewel of the North East Kingdom.

Sadly, I am not able to explain this to the groupthink, and I will forever be known as a DU pariah.
