Are Republicans Committing Treason?
http://www.alternet.org/story/151711/are_republicans_co... /
Once upon a time, in a land that now seems to have been populated by tooth fairies and unicorns, there was a political party that had a set of core beliefs to which they actually adhered.
Among them was that actually balancing the budget, as opposed to just talking about it, was sacrosanct. Slow change, while necessary, had to be balanced against the traditions of the United States, ones that had mostly served us well over two centuries.
Foreign military adventures should be limited to our national security interests. And one of the single most important components of diplomacy was protecting the economic interests not only of an elite few, but of the great many Americans who toiled in our factories and fields.
This party was known as the Republican Party, and while one might have disagreed with them on their policy prescriptions to cure any particular US ill, one could at least see some logic in their beliefs and understand that they - with some obvious exceptions from time to time (ahem, Joseph McCarthy, ahem) - were doing what they thought was right for the United States of America.

There once was a political party called Democrats. While they pretended to veneer of supporting the "working class" they colluded with people that would rob that same working class blind by forcing them into unions that would then give kickbacks to the party. They pretended to give a damn about "minority rights" while actively attempting to suppress any black voters who might vote for the other party. They claimed to represent the "poor" while enacting policies to ensure the poor stayed that way. Some things never really do change, do they?

1. I know I'm never going to be able to hear the word "patriot" without bad feelings for a very very
long time and seeing those little flag lapel pins will make me cautious around the person wearing them.
So much harm to so many millions of people! We MUST never forget!!!
Those that love their country are a danger to this goon.

3. Yeah, the flag people, my country right or wrong, the destroyers. n/t
Stephen Decatur was a gentleman and would have challenged you to a duel over your statement. Then again, even dead, he is a better man than you ever will be.

5. it's funny...
whenever I see a pickup truck with an American flag waving from it, my response isn't "What a great patriot!", but something more like "What a moronic redneck!"
Patriots are morons. Tell us how you really feel.

10. There is a case to be made for the probability that if you're getting a good enough of a buzzzzzzzzz
off of a given behavior, and plenty of social reinforcers, you would be less likely to explore other behaviors, like the solitary work of independent reading and thinking and exploring and trying to meet new/different people, to find more of the truth, a.k.a. reality, 'cause you've got all you need with your little colored piece of cloth.
(That's the rhetorical "you", of course.)
Patriots and conservatives are uncouth, lack culture, and are possibly illiterate. I guess culture is now the lunatic howlings of a fool who never ventures beyond the nearest convenience store.

11. Republicans have made me hate churches, lapel pins and anything remotely stinking of right wing nt
And yet....The only man you have met that will treat you like a woman you deride as a reich-winger. My, how very non-introspective and right wing of you.
Bah! none of the rest of the drek is worth bringing over.
