Female House Democrats want rebuke of West for insults to Wasserman Schultz

A group of House Democratic women called Wednesday on Republican leaders to rebuke Rep. Allen B. West (R-Fla.) for calling Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) “vile,” “despicable” and “not a lady.”

Reps. Gwen Moore (Wis.), Lois Capps (Calif.), Jackie Speier (Calif.), Donna F. Edwards (Md.) and Carolyn B. Maloney (N.Y.) said that West should apologize for his comments and that House GOP leaders should publicly disavow them.

“We see this as a historic and systemic way that women have been subjected to sexism particularly in this venue, in this political environment,” Moore said. ”Just once again, we have been told that in order to be a ‘lady,’ we need to just stay in our places.”

West’s remarks came in an e-mail sent Tuesday afternoon, after Wasserman Schultz criticized on the House floor West’s support for a bill that would allow the debt ceiling to be raised in exchange for significant spending cuts and congressional passage of a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.

The word has come to be an insult in the mouth of a priveleged male. To act 'like a lady' is way of saying shut up and be quiet. Know your place, lady.

Where I come from to act "like a lady" simply means to display manners and not be an asshole. You can have your own opinion. You can voice your own opinion. You just do it thoughtfully and with tact. Considering that you post at DU no one where I'm from would probably view you as someone who acts "like a lady".

The same left-wing women who go wobbly kneed over Bill Clinton, who abused women left and right, these same left-wing women who have offered who knows what kind of favors to Bill Clinton to thank him for protecting abortion.

Now, Debbie "Blabbermouth" Schultz goes and gets all these other left-wing women. I don't think they're to be taken seriously. They're liberals; their concern for womanhood is really a concern for liberalism. We know that. Feminism is not really about women's rights. It's about the sacrament to the religion of liberalism, which is abortion. Their outrage is selective and politically expedient. Now, you people in Boca who live in Debbie "Blabbermouth" Schultz's district, do you know that she is the one who voted to slash Medicare by half a trillion dollars? Debbie Wasserman Schultz voted to set up a 15-member board whose purpose is to slash the drugs and procedures that Medicare provides. She voted for that. It's called Obamacare.
