Florida has been conquered by barbarians. – A glimpse of the future.
Florida’s Governor, Rick Scott, and the Florida Republican-controlled congress, are showing us the knuckle dragger’s vision of America.
The damage they have done and are trying to do is too vast to list here. But let me give you a few examples:
I know a couple of seniors in care centers/nursing homes, who are on Medicaid, and are living in mortal fear that they will, literally, be put out on the street. Scott wants to totally eliminate the existence of Medicaid, and even the concept of it. It hasn’t happened yet, but it’s on the not-to-distant horizon and in the dreams/blueprint of Scott and his ilk. And yes, nursing home residents will have no place to go except the cemetery.
Union busting is of course on their agenda and Scott and his cronies are well on the way to destroying teachers unions, fire fighters unions, police unions, and every other union across the state. What the hell. Let’s just turn teaching over to the fundies, firefighting over to companies that charge to save your house, and policing over to Black Water.
The list of outrages goes on, but you get the idea. And this is not just the America that Rick Scott wants. It’s a glimpse of the America that today’s Republican Party envisions and is doing everything possible to bring about.
Anyone who is not yet aware that America is about to drown in a sea of insanity, needs to wake up. Either that, or spend what's left of their lives wondering what the hell happened while they weren’t paying attention.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x1521655DUmmies are oblivious to the fact that a lot of this insanity sounds pretty good to most normal people.
The queer DUmmy HillbillyBob revives his ob/gyn bouncy tale for about the hundredth time:

2. When Jeb was in office they railroaded hiv drs that had too
many surviving and doing well patients. And took back the payments made to his office for years..the assigned me to a gynecologist!!!
When to that office they assigned me to and talke to them and told them I know I don't need an obgyn. then they cut off my medicaid and adap. and I was w/o meds for several months .
WE left Fl in 2002 and im glad we got the hell out of So Fla.
Hillbilly Bob has survived the homo purges by keeping quiet. He'd better be careful to confine his bitching to red state politicians. If any of this rubs off on the Kenyan, anyone to takes part will go swirling down the memory hole.

3. It's become very apparent that Republicans are the scum of the Earth.
And it's now becoming very apparent that Florida is one of the major places they go to thrive.
I'm beginning to believe that Florida, and much more of America, has become broken beyond repair. And I'm also beginning to believe I'm a fool for hoping that I will see the return of a sane America in my lifetime.
I still think we have a chance of winning DUmmy Cyrano's vote in 2012.

4. When I was working in social services an[sic] memo game[sic] across my
desk. Most nursing home patients use up their personal savings within 4 to 5 months. They are then dependent on Medicaid. Thia[sic] means that almost all nursing home patients will have no resources what-so-ever[sic]. It is not going to be only the elderly who are angry - families are going to be hurt badly either by having to pay it themselves or in having to take the elderly into their own homes.
This is not good for Florida. This governor is absolutely crazy.
God, no, those vicious repukes! Accept your elderly parents into your home? I weep for this broken country.

6. The obvious question in your post, jwirr, is "What happens to those who don't have families?"
But we know that's of no concern to Republicans who probably think, "Push those beds out of the nursing homes into the middle of the interstate. That'll solve the problem."
I have begun to wonder if our planet is inhabited by two different species: Human beings, and Republicans. But the one thing I am certain of is that most of the elements of the entity called the Republican Party don't give a rats ass if people starve, suffer a miserable existence, live or die.
For any middle class American who doesn't yet get it, the Republican Party has declared war on us. And our response, and the response of our so-called Democratic "leaders," has been non-existent. And these "leaders" may very well be guilty of "criminal indifference."
I sense some indecision in DUmmy Cyrano. With a little persuasion, he could easily become a Palinite.

5. Grayson was right.
... which is why the GOP poured so much money into defeating him.
In a way, I hated to see that nutjob lose, and I'll bet millions of less-insane democrats were relieved to see him go.
He was like their Basil Marceaux, except he he got elected.

7. The bill to eliminate Medicaid in Florida was signed by Scott.
They just don't have approval from the feds to initiate the plan. All of Medicaid will be turned over the private insurers who agree that if they make profits over 5%, then they have to share that with the state. Seniors will be the first to be moved to this plan beginning next year.
My mother was just diagnosed with dementia and her doctor told us that she WILL require a long term nursing facility. She has narcissistic personality disorder and is getting worse steadily. Her behavior is becoming even more bizarre than usual and it's difficult to even talk to her any longer. Her cognitive ability and memory are failing fast. She's the kind of dementia patient who will take off all her clothes and take a crap in the middle of street. It's not going to be pretty.
My parents are poor as church mice, with total assests probably under $20,000. Although I hear that if your funeral is pre-paid, that was counted as an asset for applying for Medicaid. They've both prepaid their funerals, but that's not included in the $20k. They are both on SSI, although my mother only held two jobs her entire lie, both for only a couple of years. My father went broke in the 1960's paying for her many illnesses after BC/BS dropped her due to meeting the lifetime maximum. After that no insurance company would touch her. It's been a horrific struggle for my dad who still works a full time job as a night watchman and has a small boat repair business on the side which has pretty much dried up in this economy. They've transferred title of their home to my brother.
No one seems to now right now if and what we need to do to ensure that she has some sort of coverage or if she will be eligible for assistance. There's very little information coming out. I'm attempting to speak to lawyers and the state to find out what our options might be but I'm really worried.
I smell welfare fraud.

9. Florida Fell to the Barbarians When It Elected Jeb
The fix has been in ever since.
