At one point I thought it could be attributed to an unusual degree of cynicism, but now I wonder if it goes deeper than that. What I have in mind is President Obama’s obsession with portraying himself as our moral superior. Virtually every time he speaks these days, we are treated to another journey through >>> Vanity Fair.

For example, if you listened to the president’s news conference today, a theme we are by now wearily familiar with was repeated with numbing repetition: Obama, according to Obama, is quite simply better, much better, than those around him. He is a man of pure motives and unparalleled reasonableness, extraordinary intellectual depth, and unsurpassed seriousness. Others are driven by narrow self-interest, by the political calendar, by outside pressures. They are too ignorant or too weak to do the right thing, the good thing, the hard thing.

Not Obama.

Members of Congress, from both parties, are trapped by their own ideological predispositions. Obama, according to Obama, is not. He is free from bias, able to see reality whereas others merely see shadows. It is not easy to be Obama in a fallen world.

Politics tends to draw into its orbit people who are inordinately impressed with themselves and caught up in excessive self-love. But in Barack Obama we have stumbled across someone unlike anyone we have seen before. This is a man, after all, who believed he had it within his powers to heal the planet and reverse the ocean tides. And as the hopes and dreams of his 2008 campaign continue to crash down around him — as his popularity wanes, as some of his most worshipful followers turn from him, as he is  unable to extract himself from the results of his failed policies — his narcissism seems to grow, not diminish. It is hard to tell where this will all end. But I suspect it won’t be pretty. Watching what happens to those who fall in love with their own reflection rarely is.

Or, for that matter, if he succeeds, will he become even more grandiose? Some possibilities are worrisome. It's possible that Obama may be a "fanatic type" of narcissist. That could mean a world of trouble for the Democrats, for the nation, and given his position in the world, for other countries as well.

Clinton vowed the scorched earth policy if he got impeached.  I cannot fathom the damage to the country and democrat party Obama will bring.  He has already pushed them so far left the public has it figured out.

I refer not to his impeachment. I mean, what will happen if he doesn't get his debt ceiling demand met?

He's been increasing spending throughout his presidency. He ideologically believes in what he's doing and if he acknowledges any budget cuts, that would prove that what he's been doing all along is wrong. He may circumvent the constitution altogether (claiming the 14th amendment "authorizes him" which it does not) in order to avoid "implosion".

And that's just for starters. That's just one item. This guy is a tyrant. A runaway narcissistic tyrant who is bent on destroying our civil society. There's just "too much liberty and freedom" goin' on out there.

Its quite fortunate for him that he came along when the opposing party leadership is "looking for a back bone". Quite unfortunate for the rest of us ... to say the least.

My own opinion is not that he suffers from malignant narcissism (At least, no more than your average national politician), but that he is working completely out of his depth, and is a fundamentally well-intentioned Socialist ideologue with racial issues who is not nearly as smart as people think (Or he himself has been led to think), but blessed with a photogenic visage and a great speaking voice...a natural stalking horse for anyone smarter who can get his ear and talk him around, which is plenty dangerous enough.

Any time a Muslim tries to explode a bomb on an airplane, Obama sticks his nose in the air and pretends he doesn't know what's up. But he knows, he knows. We've now been taught by the media to hire and elect people by the color of their skin, or by gender, or by sexual preferences -- including, in the case of Kevin Jenkins, their ability to peddle gay sexuality to kids and teachers for the Queering of the Elementary Schools. 

Is it any surprise that a president who ran as the historic first black -- that is, on affirmative action grounds -- is not just incompetent, but perverse, so that we deliberately don't check the passenger lists for young Muslim males who were brought up in radicalized cultures, even if they are already in the terror database, even if they buy a one-way ticket with untraceable cash and don't check any luggage at all on their one-way flights from Nigeria to Detroit?

Obama's anti-terror policies are not just incompetent. They are suicidal.

You know the sad thing is... 0bama may win re-election because he has $1B to campaign with, a compliant knee pad leftist news media and the republican leadership at this time has absolutely no spine to stand their ground when they hold all the cards against this unconstitutional tyranny/ tyrant. The current republicrat "leadership" risks making many uninformed republican voters so disgusted that they may either look for a third party to vote for .. or stay home and not vote at all. This would make it much easier for the marxist in chief to win with far fewer votes than last time around.
