I stole a set of golf clubs today
« on: July 08, 2011, 03:28:00 PM »
I'm still cleaning stuff out so I don't have to move it. I dropped off a bunch of stiff at Salvation Army today. While I was there I decided to see what they were giving away inside.

Last time I was there they had a rack of unopened Head and Shoulders shampoo for a buck a bottle. I bought what was left. (Note to DUmmies: Decent people bathe on a regular basis)

I checked out the used golf clubs to see if they had any decent wedges. They didn't. What they did have was a 5-P set of Titleist AP2 forged irons. Dynamic Gold S300 shafts with Golf Pride half cord grips. Price was 2.99 a club. I wish they were a R shaft. But what the hell.

Some background. I use to play three times a week. My first job was a caddy. I got down to a 7 at one point, then my body started to fall apart. I had surgery on my shoulder and had to wear a brace on my knee. It got to be too painful, so I quit. That was 7 years ago. I deviated from Titleist one time when I tried Muzuno blades but went back to Titleist.

Lately I've had the urge to start playing again. I'll never be competitive but just to enjoy the courses and get off my lardass. I don't think I could walk 18 right now, but I bet I could walk 9 and ride 9. 18 will come later.

Now I need a 54 and 60 Oil Can wedge, Cobra 9.5 non offset driver, Scotty Cameron putter and a 3 and 7 wood. :-)

I'm thrilled.

Damn, those are nice for clubbing baby seals.
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

I have other tools for those.

My brother-in-law will be very jealous of your golf club find, so I will show it to him.  :-)

I don't play golf, but I don't think I'd ever use a good golf club on a hippie.  I'd much rather run over them with my dirty old '71 Dodge half-ton.  It is red, which gives me the convenience of washing off any blood now, or I can waiting  until later.  The wheel wells are also big enough that I don't have to worry about any torsos or other pesky smaller body parts getting stuck between the inner fender and the tire, and impeding my forward progress.

You got a steal; they look brand new. Those clubs probably sell for 10 to 20 times more than you paid. You could order the 2,3 and 4 iron from the factory and have a full set.

I found them for 750.00 on eBay. Never used a 2 iron. I'm a little stiff for a 3 iron now. That's why I used a 7 wood. I'll have to pic up a 4 iron. I found one for 129.00. I'm gonna look some more.
