Sen. Jim DeMint, whose push for more conservative senate candidates in the 2010 cycle lead to several primary challenges, is open to endorsing Mitt Romney.

“I endorsed Romney last time, and I think he’s a good candidate,” DeMint tells National Review Online today in an office visit. “I’m not going to hold any one or two things against a candidate that they’ve done.  I’ve had some bum votes in my life.”

Instead of a perfect voting record, DeMint is looking for “the ability to inspire and show some courage and I think, take on our own party in some cases.” He calls Romney a “certainly viable” candidate.

How very RINO politically mature of you.   Imagine that coming from a conservative?   can't be right?

I posted the above to poke at our resident pathological Romney hater.

Any (R) of any ideological stripe or background has my vote; that's automatic.

Just so the guy in the White House gets booted.

It's pointless for me to select a "favorite" (R) candidate, because by the time the Nebraska primary's being held, the winner's already emerged.

Any (R) of any ideological stripe or background has my vote; the only thing I question is, "can he (or she) beat the incompetent currently in the White House?"

He wins the primary, I'll hold my nose and vote for him. Until then, he doesn't have my support.

Well, see, sir, that's the luxury you have.

When your own primaries are held, the winner of the nomination's probably not known yet, and so you do have some influence in the selection.

Those of us out here, we just have to take what everybody before us has decided.

And so I don't think about "favorites," my only concern being, "Is this someone who can win the White House?"
