Sarah Palin is right!
   
We do need to tap our own natural resource for our consumption. We have right in our own back yard what we need to fulfil the needs of this country, so why not go out and get it? We can't keep pretending that we can come up with clever alternatives to what we really need.
So...why don't we?
The greatest resource that this great country has is our millionaires and billionaires. We don't even need to mine them dry to solve our issues, it can be done in a way that they can still keep their coveted "illionaire" status rather it be with a "b" or "m".
So Sarah Palin is right, just a little off in the details. So the next time taxing the rich is brought up; please join us in our chants of "Drill baby, drill!"

We do have oil in America. More so than Saudi Arabia - so I
hate to agree with her but why are we depending on muslim
countries who hate us for our oil. And why hasn't Obama
lifted the moratorium in the gulf?  Seems like a good
solution to the continually rising pump prices

Where did you get THAT from?

Do you REALLY think that Gulf drilling will solve all of America's energy problems? The Gulf is already Swiss cheese from all the THOUSANDS of exploratory and producing wells. And they're not making a DENT in America's energy needs.

So where IS all this oil you speak of?

Under the ground genius. You and your environmentalist buddies won't let us touch it though.

around these parts, we expect academic rigor, which means when you make statements about us having more oil than Saudi Arabia and that Obama hasn't lifted the moratorium and the like, we expect you to go out on the web and find us a link that proves your statements. Free Republic and Rush Limbaugh are not reliable sources.

What you mean by sharing profits. Why would they want to share profits with each other. They are competitors. It would be sure cheaper to buy our oil her rather than having it shipped across the world

Since the discovery of oil at Spindletop, near Beaumont, Texas, the world of oil has never been the same (learn more about it). According to the US Energy Information Administration, two of the top five states in terms of proved petroleum reserves (as of the year 2001) are Texas (> 4.9 billion barrels) and Oklahoma (556 million barrels), with Louisiana ranking 7th. This doesn't even take into account offshore oil, which is estimated at greater than 4.9 billion barrels in the Gulf of Mexico. Taking into account the Gulf of Mexico oil (including federally-owned land) Texas has about 25% of the US's proved reserves (tops in the nation), and Louisiana shoots to fourth (behind Texas, Alaska and California) at 14% (source, EIA, Office of Oil and Gas, 2001). Offshore Louisiana has about 2.9 billion barrels of proved oil reserves, which is the most offshore anywhere in the US. To make these statistics simple, the 6 states we are calling the south-central region of the US contains about 44% of the US's oil which has yet to be taken from the ground (9.6 billion barrels of the more than 22 billion barrels).

Of course we should drill what he have - even if the actual product is not as spectacular as estimated -

Markets have a psychologicakl component that everyone forgets about (save for the speculators) where a serious threat of the United States fetching its own oil will put downward pressure on the price, coupled with groups such as OPEC who will work to price down their product to make increased American drilling unprofitable.

Its capitalism, plain and simple. 'Greed is Good' OPEC will believe keeping a slimmer cash-cow alive and well is better than no cow at all.

Can't use that though cause the environmental nazis won't let us. an excerpt:
