NFL Season 2011
« on: July 02, 2011, 09:31:47 AM »
Will there be a complete season of NFL football this year?

I'm just not sure. Not sure at all.

I say they work it out, baseball took a huge hit years ago when they struck.

The NFL, in all of its greed, has also increased the season from 16 games to 17, not counting playoffs, etc.

I reckon they'll have a deal within 2 weeks.

They will work it out. Too much money on the table to wind up with a half a season.

I think there will indeed be football. A multibillion dollar pie is just too much for anyone to give up. Last I heard, Player's Union and Owners agreed on a 52%/48% split, but that broke down, so we'll see. Somehow, I missed that the season increased to 17 games, CG. So instead of say....the Packers going 11-5, they could go 12-5? That just sounds weird to me after so many years of watching it the way it has been. It seems...abnormal.

It is weird. But it's mostly greedy, and it increases the chances of a player getting hurt.

Frig 'em all, I hope they all hold their collective breath and sit it out this year.  College ball is way better and they don't strike.

The NBA, and Minnesota are both basically "on strike" as well.

At least Madden NFL 12 is coming out the end of next month, and I can play as the man beast DE known as J.J. Watt.  :-)

I voted an optimistic "yes" to a full season (16 games) but we could miss some preseason. (which I would watch but not really count)

17 games is news to me. I like the idea of another week of NFL but would prefer 18 weeks with two bye weeks.

Training Camp won't happen. They'd have to get a deal done almost immediately. I'm not optimistic the Pre-Season will happen at this point.

I think they will work it out but if they don't... highlight vids may be all we have.  :thatsright:

Well that, and video games...   :whistling:
