spedtr90 (280 posts) Fri Jul-01-11 01:31 PMOriginal message MN's gov pulled all tax increases. Repubs reject even that. It's not about the budget. Minneapolis KSTP News reported at noon that Dayton took his tax proposal off the table. (I thought I heard it wrong. The reporter thankfully repeated it.) That would be a victory for Republicans. But rather than avoid a shutdown Republicans went for abortion stem-cell bans, and the rest of their policy agenda.Pawlenty is in MN praising republicans for not compromising. He wishes his shutdown had been longer than 9 days, because he could have gotten more concessions. We may be in for a long one this time... "In the end, Republicans and Dayton weren’t only separated by fiscal issues. Republicans apparently were still loading bills with other goodies from their platform. In the final days of negotiations, Republicans were still insisting on legislation supporting voter ID and restrictions on abortion and stem cell research in their talks with Dayton... Even as the shutdown of Minnesota government had begun, the principal anti-abortion lobby, Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, continued to push its agenda." How about some concern for the lives of MN's citizens! http://minnesotaindependent.com/83578/gop-pressed-for-a...

Oh my.The Zoe primitive seems a tad bit bitter.
I just checked the news, so far no word on the state of MN disappearing off the map due to the govt shutdown.
Are they the cheeseheads? No, no, that's Wisconsin, right? Then what's Minnesota? If they did disappear off the map, would anyone know?
