Oh my.

My fellow Nebraskan again, the weeping one.

The relentlessly rising waters of the Missouri River assured that there wasn't much left to be seen Wednesday of the hammer wielder in Matthew J. Placzek's “Monument to Labor” sculpture at Lewis & Clark Landing on the riverfront. Omahans have seen the five 8-foot-tall bronze figures slowly inundated in recent weeks.

This is the largest labor monument in the USA.

Well, yeah, it's all too bad and that, but my fellow Nebraskan's not the sort suitable for mourning it.

These are bronze figures of guys who worked and got callouses on their hands, sweat on their brows.

franksolich probably has more callouses on his hands than his fellow Nebraskan, and sweat on the brow of Omaha Steve is probably rarer than rain in the Sahara.

4. That is a symbolic picture in more ways than one

The american union worker drowning in the right wing to squash unions. Plus the rise of the river and what it may well mean to many, many workers.

5. Shhhhhh. If Gov LePage (POS_Me) hears about this monument he'll order it torn down. n/t

Like a governor in Maine has anything to do with this.  What a retard.

I'm sure this picture is poignant to you DUmmies.  They're made of bronze, they'll be fine.  But yeah, flesh-and-blood unions are in trouble.  People are sick of the money laundering scheme they've become to funnel vast sums, often US taxpayer funds, to selected politicians.

That, my friends, is the pro-union asshole in a nutshell: they care more about some statue than the people living around the statue.

There was that one time we thought we spotted a bead of sweat, but it turned out to be tears.
It's probably a good thing he's a union drone who doesn't work.
If he tried to do anything, he'd mess it up for sure, and start sobbing again.

This is what the monument to labor looks like as of this morning:

The original's at my fellow Nebraskan's campfire on Skins's island.

Here's the way it usually looks.

I wonder why my fellow Nebraskan hasn't swum out to rescue it.

A pretty accurate picture of what unions have done to the budgets of anything they are involved with.
