N Korean children begging, army starving: exclusive

Mark Willacy
Australian Broadcasting Corporation

Footage shot inside North Korea and obtained by the ABC has revealed the extent of chronic food shortages and malnutrition inside the secretive state.

The video is some of the most revealing footage ever smuggled out of the impoverished North Korean state.

Shot over several months by an undercover North Korean journalist, the harrowing footage shows images of filthy, homeless and orphaned children begging for food and soldiers demanding bribes.

The footage also shows North Koreans labouring on a private railway track for the dictator's son and heir near the capital Pyongyang.

Strolling up to the site supervisor, the man with the hidden camera asks what is going on.

"This rail line is a present from Kim Jong-il to comrade Kim Jong-un," he is told.

The well-fed Kim Jong-un could soon be ruling over a nation of starving, impoverished serfs.

It was one thing to the Kim Jong-il when the rabble were hungry but the army was fed. A well fed army will keep the them in check. But when both are hungry?

Something big and awful will happen in North Korea and it will happen soon after Kim Jong-un takes over.

Gawd, someone needs to go in and mow them all down/the Jongs/ with lethal amounts of firepower.  Maybe the military will when they get hungry enough.

This has been the case for as long as I can remember.

China has no problems with it, and North Korea is China's problem.

Sort of.  Opinion is divided about whether or not they ever got a truly successful high-order det in their tests.

What if they could produce an EMP weapon?

What if they could produce an EMP weapon?

That requires a VERY successful high-order det, and high-atmosphere delivery.  They're more on the dirty-bomb-in-a-shipping-container neighborhood.

This will come to a head.

One way or another, things will be different this time next year.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.
