@GHalv We'd be so lucky to have the kind of clean elections that put #HugoChavez in power and kept him there.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

And Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead.

I'm still not seeing confirmation of it from a reliable source (Drudge, freerepublic, Fox).

Of course, no one's been denying it either.

<<waiting and hoping.

oops, I modified GOBUCKS's post rather than quoting it.  sorry about that.

Sorry about that, GOBUCKS, sir, and it is the second time it's happened--although the first time it happened was two years ago.  For a moderator, the "quote" and "modify" buttons are right next to each other, and I hit the wrong one......

Not a problem at all. And for someone who doesn't do TV, my post would  make no sense anyway.

Before Chavez, with all the oil wealth, VZ was less awful than most third world shitholes.
Can you imagine how bad it must be now, if the dictator has a serious illness and goes to Cuba for treatment?
Cuba? Where there's an even chance the lights will go out while you're in surgery?

Of course, before Castro, Havana was a great city.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy! Thank God he went to a Cuban hospital. Had he come here he might be doing better.

In other news: Is Hugo Chavez still dead?
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

Hope it was a painful death.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
