The Venezuelan president, who was last seen in public June 9 and last heard from on June 12, on a phone call with Venezuelan state television, was said to have been treated for a pelvic abscess in Cuba.

During the call Chávez said that medical tests showed no sign of any "malignant" illness.

But according to the report in El Nuevo Herald, Chávez finds himself in "critical condition, not grave, but critical, in a complicated situation."

The Miami newspaper cited U.S. intelligence officials who wished to remain anonymous.

If he had stolen more money, he could have gotten some real doctors in the USA...maybe his buddy and fellow socialist, Obama will slip him into the US.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Don't they have hospitals in Venezuela? He's seriously in trouble if he has to resort to the DUmmies dream of hospital heaven, Cuba.  :whatever:

Read elsewhere that it's probably the result of a STD. Oh, those crazed dictators.  :-)

If, as reported elsewhere, he really did have a pelvic abscess, he is toast.  My transplant coordinator friend says that = septic, which = you is dead.  I guess the flag at DU will be lowered to.......oh wait, they don't fly a flag, unless it is rainbow, or on the bow of a flotilla.
I shall enjoy the mourning at the DU shrine of Chavez.

Ya know, it really wouldn't surprise me if he were quietly moved to the US to see specialist. He could be sitting in one of our best hospitals right now.

Given that this paper is in fact the Spanish-language version of the Miami Herald, albeit formerly run by a Cuban refugee and as such all stories kind of have to be viewed in that prism...

This isn't good for two people 1--Chavez himself, and 2--fatboy Mikey Moore.  Oh, wherever will he sing the praises of the Cuban healthcare system NOW???

I'm sure there are a few people out there who will miss ol' Hugo.  Maybe one or two at our favorite Funny Farm even. :whistling:

They'd keep coming to the US top secret. It would be such an embarassment for Moore to have to eat his words. I hope Chavez isn't admitted into the US if he tries, but wouldn't count on Obama to do that. He'd rather kick our allies than go against Chavez.

Is there any possible way Team O'Bozo could spin it to say that it was O'Bozocare that saved Hugo, rather than the greatest medical system on the planet, which he's been systematically trying to destroy?

That wouldn't surprise me. He has no shame.

Ah.  Chavez is not well.  Just breaks your heart.

But, seriously, who really cares what Helen Thomas thinks about anything? She's like that crazed and deformed aunt (the obscenity-spouting elephant girl) one might hide away from the neighbors in one's basement for most of the year and only briefly let out, though tethered to a chain, for spring cleanings. Fortified by a stiff shot of whisky and wearing a face shield to protect the eyes from errant sprays of spittle, one would then drive her back into the dark recesses with a cattle prod while the eldest son stood by with a double-barreled shotgun . . . just in case the old battleaxe broke free of its bonds. —Michael David Rawlings
