It's illegal, the war in Libya is illegal.
The House refused to vote President Barack Obama the authority for U.S. military operations against Libya on Friday but stopped short of cutting off funds for the mission, a mixed message reminiscent of congressional unease on Vietnam and more recent wars.
In a repudiation of the commander in chief, the House voted overwhelmingly against a resolution that would have favored letting the mission continue for one year while barring U.S. ground forces, a resolution the president said he would welcome.

My bet though is that the president will do what other presidents have done in this regard, damn the legalities, damned the constitutionality, and full speed ahead with the war.
More of that change thing? I think not.

1. UN action. We are members of the UN.
Try to remember that.
So the UN supersedes our Constitution?

6. So was Iraq.
That doesn't make it any less repugnant.

The only UN authorization in Libya is a no fly zone. Bombing the crap out of buildings goes against the spirit of the resolution.
If this was Bush you would be screaming Impeachment, frogmarching, etc.

5. Umm, only Congress has the power to authorize war,
With modifications for emergency actions, yes, but the time limit has run out, and Obama has exceeded his authority.
No calls for impeachment etc.

8. Leave it to a Dem to expand executive authority for war
Hey, there are civilians in danger in Libya and everything, but there will someday be another Republican behind that desk. Who knows what they'll do with this precedent, not to mention the knowledge that there will be no consequences for their actions because Dem administrations "look forward".
