FIVE PONITS !!!!!!!!! Hell, back in the 30's, my 2 great uncles ran a service station there. Back in the mid 60's, me and my college buddies drank beer in "DON'S" at 5-pomits. I celebrated my drunken 21 st birthday at "DON'S" at 5-points. It was the area for some of the better college watering holes. 18 was legal beer age back then.

Damn the area has gone down hill in recent years. Walter Williams did a little piece on the...uh...well...you know.

I went to basic at Ft. Jackson in the late 70's, but never saw much of Columbia. Later, I lived there for 6 years, learned a lot about it and disliked it more than any Southern city I've ever lived in.

When I was there 5 Points was still a college hangout and expensive place to live in the gentrified small bungalows.  I felt okay shopping or dining there during the day, but it's just a few blocks from from very undesirable, crime infested hoods.

I remember when Strom Thurmond's daughter was killed by a drunk driver there in '93.

Funny, I thought at first they were talking about Atlanta's Five Points, which has been a shithole since before I went to college.  We were warned not to travel alone or at night the tunnel connecting East Campus under 75/85 to Spring Street/Peachtree.
