3. if we had 60 Democrats like we used to, it could've been done. Nope.

It turns out there were too many right wing Democrats who wouldn't support such a move. When you don't have a functioning public financing mechanism for elections, of course the rich can gain an edge rather easily.

If Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid didn't raise taxes on the rich when they could have easily done so, tells me even they aren't stupid enough to pull that stunt in this economy.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

The only reason they didn't is because they couldn't figure out how to add a 'Friends & Family' exemption and get away with it.

50% already pay ZERO taxes, there aren't enough "rich" people to pay your way DUmmies.

If this was ever going to be done it would have happened between Obama's election and January of this year. The dems are all talk about this but even they know it would totally tank the economy. So they give you idiots lip service why never planning on doing it. If you want to go back to pre-bush tax cuts, EVERYONE needs to go back to their previous tax rates...DUmmies probably wouldn't care because so few actually pay taxes to begin with.

I got a better idea... start taxing welfare and medicaid. Why should you get tax free money when I gotta work for mine and have the government take a bunch of it to give it to you? Why should you get tax rebates for popping out kids that you can't afford? Somebody gotta pay for it and that somebody is ME, parasite. If the government didn't take my money to give to you I might be able to retire early. Get a job loser and pull your weight for a change.

It worked so well in Venezuela that... oh, that's right, the producers (or 'rich' as you call them) fled the country.

Just once, I wish one of them would define "rich".
They never do.  The word just sounds imposing to them, I guess.
Another they love to drag out is..big tax cuts for the rich.

4. We could have just let the Bush tax cuts lapse
We wouldn't have needed any votes for that. We got so hung up on keeping the tiny cuts for the working class that we let the Rich keep the big cuts.
Somebody grooming a mole?
If not.  How tiny were the cuts for the working class, and how big for the rich?
Real numbers, and real sources if you happen to see this joey.
DUmmies can never answer.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

The only time I ever drew unemployment was for a month in California.

It was taxed.

Let me step out in front and say that we need to start taxing the poor more. The poor get all the benefits from government, they should start paying at least 5% of that.  Another concept would be to just cut a straight 15% off of the poor's benefits.

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
