3. some are leaving because of NYC race relations?
Well, they're in for a shock then. Leaving NYC to go to the Deep South in hopes of better race relations is about as upside down as you can get.
It's about like someone moving from San Francisco to Mississippi because of the bad relations between straights and gays in SF.
Oh, please. You wanna know racist, you dumb white bread liberal yankee? Go look in a mirror. The closest I've seen most white liberal yankees get to have a black man at their table, he was taking their order from them. I've been stared at in New Jersey because my wife and I were at a table together with a black friend of mine and his Mexican wife, and by people who should have known how impolite that was.
(No, I didn't take a poll, but where I was at is safely democratic, so probably.)

7. Good luck to them...
...Incidents like the police brutality the woman described aren't unknown. Segregation is still in effect, it's just not legislated.
Moving to Atlanta, Charlotte or Raleigh/Durham is one thing. Moving to Birmingham, Mobile, Jackson, Memphis is quite another. There's still plenty of racial friction in the South, it's just of a different type than what they are used to.
Do they have massive Confederate flags beside the interstate highways in New York? Do they celebrate Confederate History Month? Is there a gargantuan carving of Confederate generals on a mountain outside New York?
And if they're Democrats, they can kiss any future votes for president goodbye, as long as we have the electoral college system.
You think that's aimed at blacks? No, it's aimed at you. Yankees, progessives, liberals, whatever think everyone should think just like you. Worse, you're willing to use whatever force is available to try to make people think like you. Those flags are just reminders that we don't, and we won't, and you will never muster the force to make us.
It's funny how they use the excuse of race as the reason people are leaving the northeast when the truth is is that the states run by democrats have higher taxes, higher housing prices, higher prices for everything, fewer jobs and opportunities, and idiotic nanny-state regulations.
It has nothing to do with race and everything to do with economics.
The even better part is that the ones leaving for the South are the ones who might at least look at conservative ideas.
