An Austrian terror suspect arrested this week was plotting to crash a plane into the Reichstag building in Berlin, which houses the German parliament, a report said Saturday. Officials said a German with links to the suspect was also detained.

The suspect, who has been named only as Thomas al-J

Oh, of COURSE!  If he was a Christian planning to blow up an abortion clinic, his name would've been fully released.  Make him a Muslim terrorist looking to attack a government building, though, and you have to keep his name secret.

When I first read this, it almost looked like "Austrians planned 9/11"

Am I the only one that thinks any picture taken of the Reichstag looks like it was taken decades prior?
NAMBLA is a left-wing organization.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

Well, the structure of the building certainly went through hell - the fire in 1933 that pretty much solidified Hitler's power grab; the Soviets' onslaught and rape of Berlin in April 1945; and the stem-to-stern gutting of the building after Reunification and the return of the seat of government to Berlin.

It's an impressive building. I don't know much about the architecture, but it's formidable.

The photo looks like a computer-generated image.

The glass dome was put on after I left in 1995-- it just looks wierd to me.

Of course it had a contemporary glass dome when originally built-- destroyed in the 1933 fire and replaced with a flat roof-- but it, well, matched the architecture better.

I left in '91 and the building hadn't been renovated yet. Actually, at the time I was there ('83 to '91), I went in the Reichstag only once. The plenary chamber where the Bundestag would've met had the capitol been in Berlin, was fully outfitted, but completely empty...

...awaiting that day.

I sure as hell don't remember any dome -- not surprising since it wasn't there.
