We received some sad news last night. DU member blondeatlast has passed away.
She died Sunday morning, June 12, 2011, of a stroke. One of her sisters sent us an email last night to let us know.

According to her sister, while on a flight to Hawaii she developed a headache and lost consciousness. The plane returned to LAX airport where she was taken to UCLA Medical Center and admitted to a neuroscience intensive care unit. She never regained consciousness and was removed from life support Sunday morning about 10:00 am. She held on for about 25 minutes with very little struggle.

She is survived by her son, her estranged husband, and her two sisters. The body will be cremated and returned to Phoenix, Arizona where she lived. Funeral plans are pending.

Her sister suggested that anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in her name should make it to the Juvenile Diabetes Society or to DU.

Rest in peace, blondeatlast.

Rest in Peace, Blondeatlast.

Hmmm let's see.  Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, or the DU?  Which?  Decisions, decisions.
That really pisses me off people.  WTF.

No, but I've been on message boards for years, and even when it's political you need to separate the opinion from the person themselves. I go to an entertainment type board with a small political section, I don't go to that section anymore, long story, but we lost 1 of the prominent liberals and I cried my eyes out. Like it or not, our opinions differ but we have a lot in common with the other side and the thing we most have in common is our passion for politics. No matter how much the right and left fought with each other at that board, if we went to another forum and someone dissed our adversary? it was on, we could fight with each other but no way would we let a non-political person diss any of us LOL.

It's blonde at last. I know, it does look confusing at first. She was a very nice, civil, caring person who'd been through a lot these past few years. We talked about legal work a lot, since she's a paralegal and I'm a former (and never again!) paralegal.

I believe her son is fourteen or fifteen, somewhere around there. I realize there's no "good age" at which to lose a parent, but to do so during the teen years, especially when she had primary custody of him and they were close, would really be an awful time. Thank you for the thoughts and prayers for the family, I'm sure they could use it. Some things transcend politics (or, at least, they should!) and this is one of them.
