Asking for Another Chance

My name is Adam Rurik. I live in Windsor, Newfoundland, eastern Canada. I've been here before: Once, as myself, I said some drunken, despicable things about Ted Kennedy and his family, and was (quite rightly) banned for it.

I was, more recently, Keith Bee. And "I owe," and "Randy P," and "AndiMer," all at the same time. I created alts for "Keith" because of the Unreccing Crew, the Freepers or trolls or plain-old bloody cowards who somehow delight in chopping others down, cloaked in anonymity.

Well, I've come back, under my actual name. (You can call Directory Assistance for Windsor, Nfld: My number is unlisted, but you'll know I'm here!)

I keep coming back here because America and its politics are utterly fascinating to me: Maybe it's only an outside observer who can truly appreciate what the United States is, who Americans are.

Quite purely and simply, you are the perfect representation of all humankind: You're brilliant and you're stupid, you're noble and you're savage, you've put men on the Moon, and bigotry still thrives.

In short, you are the best---and the worst---of homo sapiens. And everything in between.

Let me clarify what I mean when I say---very sincerely---that I believe in America.

Whether or not your unprecedented experiment succeeds or fails, I've not a bloody clue. Whether Americans, overall, are progressive or regressive, hey: I dunno! What I DO know is that it is entirely fitting that you lead the world, and here's why:

Individualism. Self-reliance. Entrepreneurial spirit. But the alternate definitions are: Selfishness. Refusal to ask for help. Greed.

Don't you get it, you magnificently-insane bastards? The very things that make you great are the very things that can destroy you!

Who, in his or her right mind, wouldn't find you and your country irresistible??? You are ALL of humanity, but, unlike any other nation, you're obnoxious enough, arrogant enough, and unfettered enough to say so LOUDLY!

I am not being the least bit ironic or sarcastic when I say that I love America. You people are totally ****ing crazy, and I hope you'll allow me to stay on this forum.

Sin surely!
Adam

4. Well, you got in! Enjoy it here! And sometimes I agree:
we liberals and progressives are a bit extremist when it comes to free speech.

Right wingers, however, are more than just extremist in speech, some of their actions are downright scary!

"If you have been banned from Democratic Underground, you are not permitted to log on again using a different username. Previously banned members will be immediately banned, regardless of behavior."

And there is this from the OP: "...I created alts for "Keith" because of the Unreccing Crew, the Freepers or trolls or plain-old bloody cowards who somehow delight in chopping others down, cloaked in anonymity...."

Oh, and I unrecced the OP

10. Hey, **** you!
You'll be banned again, but I'll let you in on a little secret - you can still read the site, you just don't get to open your smug, condescending yappy canadian mouth.

By the way, DU is a US site with members all over the world, so you have a really ****ing confused skewed image of who posts here and for what reasons.

BTW, I love Canada (my ancestors came from there before we evolved) but if you think we're going to roll over and give you the Stanley Cup, you're ****ing nuts.

Welcome back!

Didn't we just hear almost exactly the same words from some Canuck not long ago?

And apparently Rush isn't the only band that will play there

It's there.  Yes, the one in Ontario is better known south of the 49th parallel.
