Weiner Defense Syndrome
 Characterized by:

1. Claims that "it's just sex, and none of our business." Well, that's correct. But the little part where he lied to his colleagues and made them look like complete idiots while they defended him? Evidently, Weiner Defense Syndrome renders one blind to that fact.

2. Demands that Clarence Thomas be indicted or investigated. Well, of course he should be. But that has nothing to do with the issues central to the Weiner situation.

3. Reminders that Weiner is not one of those "family values" hypocrites, so what he did is no biggie. Agreed. But if that were a legitimate defense that an actual adult would use, Weiner himself would have used it. "I might do scummy things, but then again, I never espoused family values," or, "hey, at least I never said I wouldn't do stuff like this" is not exactly campaign bumper sticker material.

4. Amazement that war criminals or torturers go free while Weiner is "persecuted." Logic fail. One has nothing to do with the other. That logic would also permit amazement that drunk drivers are persecuted while GWB frolics in Dallas. In any event, Weiner is not being persecuted at all. Light is merely being shined upon him.

5. Reminders that what happened was between consenting adults, and no laws were broken. Almost certainly true. But has no bearing on anything.

6. Incessant references to Vitter and Craig as examples of "hypocrisy" or "inconsistency." Actually, the reverse is true. Weiner, evidently, will serve out the rest of this term and will almost certainly stand for re-election. Craig served out the rest of his term and decided not to run again. Vitter is still in office. Since Weiner will have the same options and opportunities as those two, the three are so far completely consistent.

7. Insistence that their indifference to the entire affair would be the same if Weiner is a Republican. I sort of doubt that. See #3 above.

8. Assurances that Weiner was set up, stalked, or otherwise entrapped into his current situation by Breitbart or some other well-funded, shadowy figure. Well, that's just silly. Unless, of course, anyone following anyone else on Twitter should be called a 'stalker,' or unless there is some new serum that provoked Weiner into pursuing sexual banter with women who merely express an interest in his politics.

Correction, Beth. Although validated by a collection of lunatics as a writer and thinker, you've made an error. Reacting to a communication sent to bazillions of people isn't "stalking". It strains the definition of "stalking" to the breaking point. You'd have known that if Doug hadn't tossed your Oxford dictionary into the fireplace.

And the mouth breathers didn't stalk Andy, either. They killed his ass deader than a mackerel. Deader than a doornail. They delayed his imaginary treatment, financed by all that money that termite has since spent on gold chains and Crocs. We thought you knew.

Please followup on your eviction from the camper. Inquiring minds want to know, and a lot of mouth breathers are waiting for the entertainment.
