Not that a welfare check goes very far these days, but...sheesh.

Just gave up Chik-Fil-A forever

Should have done it a while ago. I always knew the owner was a right-wing, religious-zealot asshole but after hearing about the company giving money to organizations like Family Research Council (and then hearing him basically try to lie about it) there is no way I'm going to continue buying their food, as awesome as it is.

Really gonna miss that spicy chicken sandwich :(

First time I've taken a stance like this and hope to do more of it. Anyone else done some permanent boycotts?

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x1211104

Well I knew Chik-Fil-A was run by Christians, so it's pretty much a given it would be like sunlight on a vampire to them. But then they start ticking off their list of other companies:

But I also personally boycott K-Mart because of the lousy way they treated me back in 1977.

18. I don't eat Chik-Fil-A or Olive Garden ... and I check paper products

to make sure I'm not buying ANYTHING made by the evil Georgia-Pacific.

As far as Red Lobster, I ate there once about 20 years ago, and that was one time too many. Nasty stuff.

Fortunately... the boycott was a great success, and even though the agreement is still technically binding, it hasn't been adhered to in ages.

34. Cracker Barrel restaurants...infamous for being anti-gay, firing gays,

refusing to hire gays.
There was a rather successful boycott of them on the Gulf Coast back in early 90's for that reason.

Georgia Pacific products=Koch brothers. Problem is, Georgia Pacific hires a lOT of people in our area,
for the local mills, but has also been buying up a LOT of local mills which had to close because of the economy, so GP got them at fire sale prices, made everyone take early retirement, then hired other people at much lower wages and benefits.

... (never forgave them for evading responsibility for Valdez) Dominos (ketchup on a cracker though I hear their pizza has improved the dipshit owner has not), Shell (treated like crap at their stations multiple times, won't buy anything there any more).

I used to thing Lowe's was better than Home Depot (and I spent literally thousands there last year) but at a bar recently saw a big old Lowe's logo behind the talking head-cases on Fox so now I'm torn.

Already mostly boycott Chick-Fil-A, have eaten there about twice in the last decade.

During the Vietnam War, when I learned that Dow Chemical was responsible for napalm, I vowed never to purchase their products. I've kept that vow to the best of my ability (given that they may have subsidiary companies I don't know about). And that's been a long time!

They've bought up so damn many companies.

But they are so evil it's breathtaking...

My original gripe (and apparently it's still going on, damn them) is over their practice of sending women dressed as nurses into hospitals to pitch how great their formula is for newborns. It's expensive and of course nowhere near as good as mother's milk. By the time the new moms figure out how awful and expensive it is, their own milk has dried up. So the moms dilute the stuff so they can afford it.

Wretched behavior on Nestle's part. Plus they do whatever they can to buy up various water sources, including lying to the voters and etc.

Scummy bastards, and they are buying up companies all the time.

66. I haven't had a drop of Starbuck's coffee in years.

When they refused to support a ban on 'concealed-carry' in their stores, I gave them up for good. What the hell good is all their reputed charity work and Third-World benefit donations if some bad-tempered asshole can just unlimber his piece and pop off on a bunch of other customers if he feels the line is moving too slowly?

I started going to a locally-owned & run coffee shop where the coffee is just as good, if not better, the barista on duty during the time I usually show up in the morning is much hotter, and the money stays in the neighborhood and supports a small business.

No wonder they spend so much time in convenience stores, they must do all their shopping there - groceries, furniture, clothes, hardware, you name it.

Do we really care if they have anywhere to shop  ?

If it were up to the DU we'd all be shopping at the local government ration store with our government supplied ration books.

Sorry comrade but there is no flour or oil this week. Better luck next time comrade.

If they were to starve to death because they can't "ethically" shop anywhere that just means one less moocher voting in one more looter. No great loss.

I love these lists.  They lay it out and make it so convenient for me.  I buycott everything they boycott.

Over the weekend we had some cookouts.  Johnsonville brats, cheeseburgers w/ Sargento, fine products from the good people at Miller Coors, mopped up with Koch Brothers brand paper products.  I don't know what that guy's beef with Idaho potatoes was, but we that those, too.

That's the only boycott I've ever heard of that worked. When S&W got in bed with the Clinton commies, endorsing a host of gun control regulations, the NRA and gun owners literally destroyed the company. The boycott ended with S&W going out of business, sold to another outfit at a fire sale price. The new owners immediately told the Clintons to go to hell, and the boycott was over. Not much like the DUmbass's not-one-damn-dime day.

They were trying to give Clinton a blow-job, stab the competition in the back, and stay alive on just the law enforcement market while the Dems killed the rest of the U.S. gun industry.  It was a piss-poor idea all around, especially once Billy Jeff lost the ability to control the legislative agenda in Congress just two years into his first term.

Oh, I don't know, how about Jim Zumbo? Guy writes for outdoor magazines about hunting and guns, has a TV show about hunting, and then writes a column saying semi-automatic black rifes should be outlawed because they look scary. He immediately lost everything, TV show, magazine column, endorsements, everything. So he hires Ted Nugent and goes on TV whining and crying about making a mistake. I would not want to be around anyone as dumb as Jim Zumbo if he's got a loaded gun, and Nugent isn't much smarter, for selling out to the jerk.

I wish someone would boycott Cracker Barrel. We always stop there when travelling, and I'm sick and tired of waiting for a table. The DUmbass boycott of Cracker Barrel was as successful as their boycotts of Wal-Mart, Chik-Fil-A, and BP. The only boycott they seem to keep going is against soap.

Bess Eaton Donuts did the same thing around here ( most of the chain was located is SE New England ) and it drove the moonbats crazy - they were overjoyed when Tim Horton's bought the chain, and since then Horton's has abandoned pretty much everything they bought, leaving Bess Eaton to begin again - there are three of them in Rhode Island now, using all the old recipes.

Of course, the primitives rejoiced at the then demise of Bess Eaton - http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x1476097 -- and now the chain is 'born again' == Too bad, primitives.   :-)

They did do that with cheese. I bought it from the welfare DUmmies for 5 bucks a carton.

That was some good cheese.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

I have to admit - I LOVED the Gub'mint cheese. It made the best tuna-noodle casserole. I found out years later it was actually generically packaged Land-o-Lakes yellow American.

Funny that is when I started buying from them again. Not their burnt coffee but their cider and cold drinks are great. :-)

My ex-mil used to get a bunch of the government surplus handout stuff, and what she didn't want, she'd give to us.

I had an actual can of "government pork".  We kept it until the expiration date, then opened it.

About a third of the can was fat and grease that had risen to the top.   :puke:

28. Johnsonville brats and Sargento cheese.
Haven't bought any since the WI situation started and I wrote both to tell them (not that they care).
You're right DUmbass. They don't care about a primitive like you.
Those Johnsonville Brats are killer on the grill I tell ya. Love'em.
