So Can Anybody Explain Why Harry Reid Agreed To Have The Senate Meet During This Scheduled Break...

for the Memorial Day Weekend...

Which prevented Obama from making Elizabeth Warren a Recess Appointment ???

What THE ****... was Reid thinking ???

1. Doesn't a recess for the Senate have to be agreed by the House?

2. Yes, this one is the Repugs fault, not Reid.
Thank Speaker Boehner for blocking recess appointments.

This is bad?
Block them ALL. Every stinking one of BO's appointments need to be blocked.
Every stinking one.

This is by Dana Milbank, no less:

Quote
The Senate is supposed to be in Memorial Day recess this week. But the chamber is so ungovernable that Majority Leader Harry Reid doesn’t even have the votes to declare a recess. So he decided instead to have a few “pro forma” sessions, such as Tuesday’s, allowing senators to take a vacation without voting for it.

In a sense, the Senate has been in a pro-forma session all year … Although there’s general agreement that the most pressing issue facing the federal government is its runaway finances, the Democrat-controlled Senate hasn’t passed a budget in 762 days, a new standard for dereliction of duty.

It is just the sort of thing that offends Americans about Washington: The triumph of tactical advantage over the national interest. Democrats were understandably embarrassed about voting themselves a vacation so soon after abandoning their budget responsibilities. So when Sen. Jeff Sessions (Ala.), the top Republican on the budget committee, demanded a roll-call vote on the recess, Reid used the pro forma loophole.

Harry Reid, too clever by a half.

For Those Still Queasy About Impeachment...

Can you give me an idea of what it WOULD take to get you onboard???

How about the new U.S. Attorney General as a recess appointment, no confirmation.

How about an aerial strike on Iran?

How about extending tours of duty in Iraq once again?

Or is it ONLY a reinstatement of the draft? (And isn't THAT some selfish shit?)

Seems during the Bush years, a recess appointment was an impeachable offense - What changed ? Frankly, you should be happy Obama was blocked from doing so, keeping him away from impeachment....   :-)

I don't like recess appointments as a matter of principle.

This Elizabeth Warren, I'm not up to speed.  I heard she's a control freak who wanted to establish some big bureaucracy as a consumer protection board or something?  A dangerous thing in the hands of a nanny state moonbat.  What does anybody else know?

She's another one from Harvard.  Hasn't that institution done enough damage to the government already?

From what I saw of her previous appearance in Congress, she is an arrogant moonbat who would be a threat and a menace, unaccountable to anyone, if ever entrusted with this office.

I received a chain e-mail yesterday, of which I don't know the full truth of.  I'll excerpt the important part here, and you all can help me out.  It is discussing the percentage of each President's cabinet who worked in the private business sector prior to their appointment to the Cabinet.  Here are a number of the most recent Presidents...

Franklin Roosevelt 50%
Dwight Eisenhower 57%
John Kennedy 30%
Lyndon Johnson 47%
Richard Nixon 53%
Jimmy Carter 32%
Ronald Reagan 56%
George H.W. Bush 51%
Bill Clinton 39%
George W. Bush 55%

Barack Hussein Obama 8%
